Funny Story #1 - Last night, I had one of my employees call me at 5:25 to tell me he was sick and would not be able to make it to his site to operate the machine for machine pitch baseball. He should have been at the park by 5:15 and games start at 5:30. The only option I had was to do it myself. While I was at the field operating the machine, the little boy was playing. He was probably 6 - easily the littlest one on the team. He was dressed more like a preppy than a baseball player. He had curly hair down to his chin. He was super cute. He was walking back to his dugout and as he walked past me he said, "Are you a girl? Or a boy?" I laughed and said, "I'm a girl." He said, "But you look like a boy!" Oh man, it was hilarious! I did have my hair pulled back in a pony tail, but still!! I'm fairly certain I don't actually look like a boy!
Funny Story #2 - I was sitting in my co-worker's office today. I had a pen in my hand - the kind you click open and closed. We were discussing an important matter. As we talked I started drawing lines on my leg with the CLOSED pen. I had drawn a dozen or so "imaginary lines" on my leg when I looked down to realize - the pen was NOT CLOSED!! I had been drawing all those lines on my jeans with a purple pen! How embarrassing!! I emptied a tide pen trying to get it out. It got a little better, but my jeans are definitely still purple! I'm hoping the ink will continue to come out in the wash.

Friday!!
Except for the fact that I don't feel so hot, today has been great day! I finally got somewhere on the cleaning project I started at work. We have a storage room that was an utter disaster a couple weeks ago. I've been slowly cleaning up and today it finally looks like I've done something! And we can actually use the space we have!
I left work a little early. Our work week goes from Friday to Thursday and since I have to work tomorrow, I didn't have to put in so many hours today. I came home to a delicious meal cooked by my mommy. I also made homemade, gluten free peanut butter bars. They are pretty darn good!
After dinner my mom and I went to Tai Pan. I love that place and hate it at the same time. I love the stuff I have found there and it's all be reasonably priced. I just get so lost! I could probably walk all the way around the store multiple times and not realize it! There's just so much to look at! It was a lot more fun to go through this time than it was the first time. I feel like I finally have a vision of what I want in my house. I have colors picked and it just makes it so much easier to buy decorations and stuff! There's still a long ways to go, but at least it's coming.
I'm going to bed early. I get to help with a triathlon tomorrow. I'm actually pretty excited. I love being in charge of races. And the best part about tomorrow is that I don't have to be the one in charge! I just get to help! Unfortunately, I have to be Sandy by 5:00AM...oh well. What can you do?

Sick!
Sick, sick, sick....and I did it to myself. Every year about this time, our office makes this delicious tomato salad for lunch. We do it at this time of year because now is when everyone is up to their ears in tomatoes from their gardens...and tomato salad just doesn't work if the tomatoes are not home grown. Today we ate the delicious goodness - it's even gluten free! The only trouble with tomato salad is that you just want to keep eating it. It works out though because if all you're eating for lunch is tomatoes (plus a few other wonderful ingredients) you usually end up hungry again in the early afternoon. Such was the case today. Early this afternoon we were in the break room for seconds. Jill got a bowl - the same bowl she had been using earlier and filled it with the yummy stuff. I didn't want a whole bowl, but I couldn't just turn my back on the salad all together. I settled for a few snitched tomatoes from Jill's bowl. Minutes later I realized my mistake. The salad has a juice - oil, vinegar, garlic, plus all the tomatoey goodness. Everyone else in the office dips sourdough bread in juice. Those of us with a gluten intolerance do not. Those of us with a gluten intolerance should probably be a little more careful and not steal tomatoes from Jill's bowl of tomato salad that has had sourdough bread dipped in it multiple times! Dumb Jetta! I hoped it wouldn't be enough to make me sick...but that was just wishful thinking. I did get sick. The good news? I got to come home a little early and spend some time at home with my mom. I suppose that helps the fact that I feel like my insides have been through a meat grinder!
Today is a fabulous day...today I did my taxes!! Hooray! I know they're actually supposed to be done in April, but instead of filing my taxes, my dad filed for an extension so I could get the first time homebuyer's grant this year instead of waiting until next year. Aaron was awesome enough to find my dad's turbo tax stuff - the program and my file from his computer. Today Aaron finished and filed my taxes! I'm so glad we were able to do it all with the information that was already on my file. I went to my mom's house yesterday to try and find the file that all my tax stuff is in. My dad had it on his desk in the office the last time I saw it. The office has since been totally torn apart and the contents scattered all over the basement. I looked for the file in the basement. It didn't take long to overwhelm me. I lost it. I vowed not to go into the basement alone every again! My heart can't handle it!
My mom and I went to Aaron and Jamie's house for dinner tonight. Dinner and taxes...doesn't get much better than that. We had halibut and it was delicious! I love eating a good meal that someone else cooked! Jamie also gave me a few of her recipes - peanut butter bars and lemon bars. I'm going to see if I can make them gluten free. We'll see how it goes.

Neglect
I have neglected my blog. The more I neglect it, the more daunting the task of updating becomes, and the longer I put it off. I really need to get back in the habit - everyday - how I've seen the hand of the Lord in my life. I'll work on it. In the meantime - the quick update:
I love my house! Over the weekend, my mom and I hung some things up on the walls. I love the difference it has made. It makes it feel like we live here! There are still quite a few things I want to get, but they will just have to come in time. It takes a lot longer to set up a home than I thought it would. But, everyday I love it more and more. It really has become my home. Laura painted some walls her house over the weekend and it made me seriously think about painting my own walls. I want for just a bit longer so I can decide for sure what I want to do.
I've had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my mom lately. She is in the middle of remodeling her house and it's a disaster. The mess and the lack of progress has really been getting to her. I've convinced her that it's really a lot better for her just to come hang out here where we have a floor and a kitchen and no dust! We set up an air mattress and she's been here the better part of 2 weeks. I love it! I love my mom and I love to have her around! I know sometimes she stays home because she feels like she's a burden. I just have to keep reminding her that she is definitely not a burden and I love to have her over!
We went to a funeral over the holiday weekend. Brother Archibald passed away last week. It was a pretty sweet funeral. I love how much you can learn about a person you thought you knew at a funeral. I remember even learning things about my dad as his funeral. My mom played the piano and she did a phenomenal job - even if she didn't know the song and air conditioner blew her music off the stand! She is just amazing - that's all there is to it! One of Brother Archibald's grandsons said something that really struck me. He said, "He's not really gone, he's just preparing the way." I LOVE that! Those that go on before us really are getting everything in order so we'll be all set when we get to join them. And what a sweet reunion it will be.
We finally settled on a ward. Krista, Emily and I have been "ward hopping" since we moved. In the end we decided on the Centerville ward - the one we're supposed to go to. Imagine that! There are a few things/people I'm not so sure about...but that's just the territory when it comes to singles wards!
I really, really miss Chris! We found out a couple weeks ago that he is going to be out for tech school for a lot longer than we thought. Originally we were told that he would be done the end of October. But he found out that there's another course after that so he won't really be coming home until February of next year! Sad day! But, he will get to come for Christmas and my mom is thinking she might want to go out to see him for Thanksgiving. We'll see. I hope the time goes by fast!
I finally got some really good new music. I love the difference a few good songs can make in your day! I love to listen! I love to sing along! I love to share with others who I think will enjoy! I just love good music!
