I ran this morning!! Three whole miles! I won't even confess how long it took me because it was ridiculous! It was so hard. I'm sure my body will remember how to run and it will only get easier, but man...today was hard. Tomorrow we switch - Wendee gets to run on the treadmill and I get to ride the bike. Should be a fun adventure.
I bought more stuff for my room today. That adventure has gotten a little out of control. I bought a new comforter cover and new sheets. I'm having kind of a hard time with it - it's a pretty big step for me. I've had the same comforter cover for 10 years! I love that thing. I have tried on more than one occassion to graduate from it...but I have not had any success yet. But, the clouds just did not fit with my more sophisticated-looking bedroom. It had to go. Wendee had a good idea - she suggested that I keep it to make baby blankets out of. I love that idea! Although, I'm not sure I could cut it up just yet. I have to make sure I can really be okay with this new one first!
My poor baby nephew is sick tonight. He's thrown up a few times and I bet he has few more to go before he's done. I feel bad for the kid - being sick is no fun! And I feel bad for Jared because he got barfed on multiple times - and that's no fun. And I feel bad for Wendee because she has to take care of a sick baby all night - which is also no fun. This is one of the times when I'm super grateful that I get to be single right now and just take care of me, and not puking little kids!
Tomorrow is the last day of 2008. Crazy. I always feel like the New Year is here before it should be. I feel like I just got used to writing 08 and now I have to switch to 09. On the bright side - 09 is my favorite number! Maybe it will be my lucky year. I wish that my New Year's was going to more excited than it's going to be. Unfortunately I have to work a half day - the second half of the day. I'm kind of excited because I miss the people I work with, but I'm not excited because I have so thoroughly enjoyed my break from work!! I'm not ready to go back! Good thing I still have a few more days of vacation to enjoy. Krista is having surgery tomorrow, which kind of puts a damper on New Year's Eve activities. Maybe I'll just hang out with her - watch a few movies and go to bed early. Who needs to stay up for midnight anyway?

Good Intentions
I told Wendee last night that I was going to wake up this morning and run. I had full intentions to wake up this morning and run. I did not wake up this morning and run. I did not sleep well last night. I've trained my body to stay up late and sleep in late. Last night I went to bed early so I could wake up early and my body did not agree. I tossed and turned all night and when my alarm went off I felt nauseous. So I went back to sleep instead. I will try again tomorrow - only I don't have anywhere to be tomorrow so I will run when I wake up - no alarm!
I took Sharon in for her surgery this morning. It was rather uneventful. I thought I was going to stay there at the hospital until she was done, but I changed my mind. After they took her back and I realized that it was going to be three hours before she was even conscious again, I went home. Wendee and I went up to get my picture framed. I got all nervous to take my picture in - for absolutely no reason. I still don't know why I was nervous. The framing they are going to do is going to be awesome! I'm excited to see it all done and hang it on my wall!
I went back to the hospital with my mom this afternoon. Sharon was not a happy camper. She was hurting real bad and when they finally got that under control, she decided she wanted to go outside to smoke. The nurse wouldn't let her because her orders said to lay flat until the morning when the physical therapist would come. Sharon freaked right out and yelled at everyone. I know the nurse was ticked and I was super upset that Sharon would talk to anyone like that. The nurse was trying to do her job and follow the doctor's orders and Sharon was a royal beast about it. I went out to talk to the nurse and try to help diffuse the situation and I ended up just crying. I felt so bad for her and I was upset that she had to put up with Sharon. I couldn't stop crying and I eventually had to just leave. I felt bad. I knew Sharon was hurting and frustrated, but I couldn't handle the situation or the environment anymore. I told her that I loved her but that I couldn't stay any more and I left. She needs to know that she can't treat people like that and expect them to stick around. It doesn't work like that. I'm disappointed and I'm a little hurt. But I'm realizing that no matter how much I want to help other people, I can't do it at my expense. I don't have to put up with the yelling and swearing so Sharon won't have to be in the hospital alone. I just wish there was a way for me to make other people see that.

I love my room!!
I finished putting my furniture together today!! Hooray!! I love it, I love it, I love it! My room looks and feels so much better! It still needs some finishing touches - my picture and probably a new bedspread. But even if those don't come for a while, I still love it!
I let something get to me today and I ended up with a little bit of a bad attitude. Sharon is going in for back surgery tomorrow and she's relying on me to take care of her. I'm the one the gets to take her to the hospital tomorrow morning. I'm a little worried that she expects me to stay there and wait around until she's done. The would really be pretty silly because she's going to be in surgery, and then she'll probably be so drugged she won't know if I'm there or not. I'll just wait and see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully I won't have to stay too long because there are things I really want to do tomorrow. I love Sharon and I know it sucks to have to have back surgery, but I just can't make my life stop to sit with her for six weeks while she gets better.
I'm starting a running routine in the morning. I talked to Wendee and told her I need some kind of accountability or motivation or something! We decided to work out early in the morning together. We'll get up and meet in the basement every morning. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I will run on the treadmill while she bikes. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I will bike while she runs on the treadmill. I know that if we do it together it will make it a lot easier for me. I need to run again - my body needs it and my mood needs it! I can feel the winter post-holiday blues coming. I'm sure running will be a good way for me to stay happy!
I've been thinking about New Year's resolutions a bit lately. I have come up with a few. I will make a more complete list when the new year comes, but the one the kept coming up for me today was my calling. I am the Relief Society visiting teaching coordinator. I've had the calling for a couple months now and I have done absolutely nothing. It's been too easy to tell myself that it's okay that I'm not really doing anything because I don't even know what to do. But, I will do better! I will figure out what needs to be done and do it! The Lord does so much for me all the time, there's no reason why I can't follow through on the things He's asked me to do.

Furniture progress
It's been a great day!! I woke up this morning, got ready fast (gotta love those ponytails!) and went with 11 little kids to the roller skating rink. My niece Holly had her birthday party this morning and it was a riot. I love to watch little kids get excited about things! And those little kids were excited - skating, bouncy toys, and arcade games. It just doesn't get much better than that!
After the party I started my big project - the room. Wendee helped me put my book shelf together and get it all organized. Then she helped me rearrange some of the furniture. I put one of my dressers together tonight and I had full intentions of putting the other one together too, but I think I'll go to bed and do it tomorrow instead. It's a little late to be starting a project like that. But, I'm really excited about how my room is coming. I really, really love it! I just need to get the other dresser put together and in place, get rid of the old pink dresser, get my James Christensen picture framed and hung, and get a new bedspread. Hopefully all of that (besides the picture framing) will be done before Monday is over. Hooray! I wish my camera worked so I could take pictures!
I laughed so hard I cried and my tummy is sore! Jared and I were lifting my new dressers out of the car. We had to back to IKEA tonight because the dressers I got yesterday were brown...even though they were in the black pile! I was rather upset about it. Anyway, we were lifting the new dressers out of the car and there must have been something in the air or something because we both pretty much lost it! Jared said something silly that wasn't really even that funny, but I busted up laughing! We sat outside and laughed for probably 10 minutes before we were composed enough to lift the heavy box. I love that! I love to laugh out loud until my stomach hurts and my eyes water. It brings me joy!

Real furniture!
I did something I've never done before...I bought myself real furniture!! I've been planning to re-do my room for a while now. It all started with the bed things. I thought I really wanted a bigger bed. But, I reconsidered and decided what I really wanted was a real dresser and a book shelf. I bought both of those things tonight! I'm really excited to get it all set up! I didn't have enough motivation to crack the boxes open and put it all together tonight, but hopefully I'll be up and rolling tomorrow!
I was super lazy this morning. I woke up at 6:00 this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep. I was really annoyed because I didn't get to sleep until late. Usually when I wake up in the morning I have a really hard time going back to sleep. But, today was different. I woke up for about an hour or so and then I went back to sleep and slept until 10:30! It was awesome. I spent most of the day cleaning my room. I wanted to go get my stuff at IKEA, but I wanted to make sure everything was clean before I tried to rearrange. I cleaned in my PJs and I didn't actually get ready for the day until 2:00! I love holidays!

Merry Christmas!
This morning I was snug in my bed - dreaming about Christmas morning actually - when I heard the noisy pitter patter of little feet on the floor above me (the joys of living in the basement). In less than 30 seconds 6 of those little feet were in my room. "Jetta, Jetta, wake up!! It's Christmas!! Wake up!! Come upstairs! It's Christmas!" I love it! Christmas would just not be the same without the excitement from the little kids!
Today has been a wonderful day! We started with Christmas here at our house. We do things a little differently here. The three kings come to our house and bring us a "want," a "need," and "something spiritual." It's actually super cool. The kids end up with just a few bigger presents, which tends to work out a bit better than hundreds of little toys. The three kings brought me a book for the spiritual gift, some bath and body works stuff for my need, and a gift certificate to the Canyon Art Gallery for my want, which is just what I wanted!! I got a piece of art for my birthday this year and it is not getting the love and attention it deserves because it is waiting to be framed. I'm super excited to take it up there!! The three kings were very good to me!
After we did presents here we went up to the Packard's house. They have a fun Christmas morning traditions. They eat red and green mush (aka cream of wheat) to help them remember how blessed we are. Then we line up at the bottom of the stairs and sing "I saw Three Ships" as we push and pull each other up the stairs. It's awesome! We always get outrageous stockings packed to overflowing. Oma and Opa also get gifts for everyone which is just incredible. I got a hoodie and a gift card. I also got to be part of the name-drawing this year too. I drew Billy's name and I got him a racquetball racquet. I was pretty excited to give it to him! I hope he likes it. He drew my name and gave me a beautiful picture of the Salt Lake Temple. I'm excited to hang it in my room.
After the Packard's house we ventured back to Kaysville to meet up with my family. We met over at Aaron's house so we didn't bring all the germs to my parent's house. It was fun. My mom makes pajamas for all the grandkids every year. The gift giving between the siblings was not discussed this year so there wasn't anything spectacular. But, the best gift was the opportunity we had to be together, especially considering the circumstances of the past few months! My mom told me to come over to their house later, and I did. She gave me a necklace - it's silver and has a little heart and I absolutely love it! She also gave me a bracelet, which I'm not so sure about, but she also gave me a gift receipt so I might see if there's something I would like to exchange it for. And she got me a willow tree figurine - "The Sign for Love" - and I love that too!
When I left my parent's house I went over to Krista's. We exchanged presents. It was actually kind of funny because we both got each other the same thing - a willow tree figurine. I got her the friends one and she got me the father and daughter one, which I've wanted for a long time.
Unfortunately this afternoon I got a headache. I'm pretty sure it's because I haven't worn my glasses very much this week - I just forget when I'm at home all day! I took an ecedrine and now I can't go to sleep. It's 1:00 in the morning and I've been up since 7:00. I can't usually do that! Good thing I get to sleep in tomorrow!
We were super blessed to be able to have the Christmas we had. It's apparent to me that I am loved! We were also blessed to be able to travel a lot today - all in safety. We drove back and forth to Roy a couple times in pretty bad snow, but we did it without any harm or accident. My cute nephew Josh suggested we say a prayer when we came home for the night. It was snowing pretty bad. He was an awesome example of faith and relying on the Lord in times of need. The Lord heard our prayer and we're all safe in our beds at home tonight.

Christmas Eve
I might be a little slower than most, but I finally figured it out. When I was little it used to drive me crazy that my parents made us wait so long to open presents on Christmas morning. I couldn't understand why they weren't as super excited as I was. Tonight, it clicked. I got be a helper for Santa tonight and I was there outside the kids' rooms it clicked! Santa doesn't come until midnight at least - even later if there are particularly excited children in the house. No wonder my parents were so tired in the morning! No wonder they kept telling us to go back to bed! I can't believe it really took me that long to figure it out!
I'm having very mixed emotions about Christmas this year. I'm not super excited about any one gift in particular I'm giving. I usually am. I like to give gifts that I think will actually mean something to the person receiving it. I love to give gifts are sentimental. If the recipient cries, I get bonus points. I don't like to brag, but every once in a while I come up with an amazing idea. I don't really feel like I had any amazing ideas this year. I'm excited for all the gifts I'm giving, but I don't feel like any of them have that something extra. I'll have to do better next year.
I've always loved Christmas because it seems like one of the few excuses my family has to get together. I love it when my whole family is under the same roof. I love it when my two oldest brothers joke and talk in their Spanish falsetto voices. I love it when my sister is sassy with my dad. I love it when the little kids play with Nana and Papa. I love it when it's crazy loud and everyone is laughing. Things this year will be a little bit different. We're having our Christmas get-together at Aaron's house because my parent's are still a little leery about having everyone and their germs over to their house. Hopefully it will still be just as crazy and fun at Aaron's house.

Shoot me now...
I'm sick - contaminated by Chick-fil-a. Once I knew I would be sick, I further poisoned myself with: redvines, part of a subway sandwich, a subway sugar cookie, an egg roll, wingers sticky fingers, and a shortbread cookie. Now I'd like to die. My insides feel like they're being processed with a meat grinder and I think my head might just explode any minute. I'm sure I'll feel better in the morning.
The rest of the day was wonderful. We spent most of it together as a family. We dropped donations off to the homeless shelter, we went on two secret missions to buy Wendee Christmas presents (while she was in the car with us!), we went out to lunch, and we all played a song as a family at Melodee's violin recital. I also got all my shopping done. And my home teachers came over. And tomorrow is Christmas eve!!

Snow and lights
Oh the weather outside has been frightful today! I told Wendee that I would take Melodee out shopping for Christmas presents today. I read the weather report last night and it said it would start snowing about noon today. I figured we could go out and get all the things we needed and ake it home before the storm hit. The report was wrong. I went upstairs to get some breakfast at 9:00 or so and it was practically a blizzard outside! It put a damper on the plans for the day...but thing ended working out just fine. Melodee and I waited around for the storm to settle down. We did eventually make it out to do the Christmas shopping. I'm getting super frustrated with one gift in particular that I've been trying to get. I saw it in a store in Sandy, but unfortunately didn't buy it. I've been to two different locations of that same store and niether one had the thing I'm looking for. Annoying! But, Wendee has to go out to Sandy tomorrow anyway so I'll probably go down with her and steal the car while she does her thing. We'll see.
We went down to see the amazing lights at Temple Square tonight. We took the train and trax to get there. It was actually a lot of fun. It was an ecouraging trip - I might be a bit more inclined to take the train and trax to work - especially if the weather's supposed to be bad. I got a present all ready for Natalie in hopes that I would see her at Temple Square. I tried not to get my hopes up because I've been there a couple times recently with no success finding her. We walked all the way around and we getting ready to head out. I said a little prayer that we would be able to find Natalie. Jared went to walk through one of the visitor's centers and there she was - right there at the front desk. Such a tender mercy! I was able to give her my present and chat with her for just a minute. She said that she "just knew" I would come today she she had my present there in one of the back "missionary" rooms. She got me a willow tree figurine - the angel of hope. It's beautiful and I love it. I'm excited for her to come home. I told her I would go to California when she gets home and help be a little more normal. I'm sure she's going to be an awkward returned missionary.

Delivering Christmas
Today was another fabulous day! I am loving the way this little break has started!
I went back to the church after the regular block for tithing settlement. I sat outside the bishop's office for a few minutes. I noticed that there two Christmas trees there in the hallway. I thought about cool it was that our bishopric was so festive. A couple minutes later a member of the bishopric came out into the hallway and said, "You don't know anyone who needs a Christmas tree do you?" My heart kind of skipped a beat. Sharon has been trying for the past couple weeks to get a Christmas tree. She really wanted Alex to be able to have a tree at her mom's house. But, it hadn't worked out. After my appointment with the bishop a few of the men helped me get the tree into my car. I drove home to change my clothes and grabbed Sharon's Christmas presents while I was home. I called her and told her I had something for her and I was on my way over. I giggled the whole way there! I walked into her house holding a Christmas tree and the look on her face was priceless! She came over and gave me a great big hug and started to cry. We set the tree up in Alex's room and it's beautiful! I made Sharon open her presents too. I bought her a willow tree figurine of sisters - which also made her cry. And I bought her a CTR ring. I was a little bit iffy about the right, but she seemed to really like it. I love to see the progress she is making. I know she is making some really hard changes in her life. But I've also seen some pretty incredible blessings come her way recently. I hope that she can see the connections between trying to do what's right and receiving blessings and an outpouring of our Heavenly Father's love. I have loved the role I've been able to play. Especially today I just felt like an instrument in His hands. It's awesome!! I hope and pray that we can keep this situation moving in the right direction.
I wrapped a bunch of Christmas presents tonight. I'm starting to feel like my present shopping is finally close to done. I have a few more presents to buy. Hopefully I will be able to get those taken care of tomorrow. We're supposed to have another snow storm tomorrow and I would love to not have to go out in the snow! I'm super excited to have some time off work this week. It feels like a vacation even though I'm staying home.

Life is good
Great days...gotta love 'em. I got to sleep in today. I only slept until 8:00, but that was enough for me. I got a cold shower - that's probably the only bad part of the day. Nothing like a cold shower on a cold morning to start the day off right! But, if only got better from there.
I took Sharon to the Bishop's storehouse this morning. She talked to her bishop last week and he agreed to help her out. We went down to Welfare Square in Salt Lake because apparently the storehouse in Kaysville isn't open on Saturdays. The people there were kind and the service they provide there is incredible. We walked about the store putting things in the cart - things most of us would take for granted. It was a tender moment for me. I pay my tithing every month so that people who are in need can get the things they would otherwise have to go without. It's amazing to me just how incredible our church is. I'm seeing more and more every day the support system we have in the church - financially, emotionally, spiritually...it's unreal! And all thanks to a Heavnly Father who loves us more than we know!
We got to go see the Nutcracker today in Salt Lake - Wendee, Melodee, Holly, Oma and me. It was fun. It's always fun to dress up a bit nicer and go out with just girls! Why? Who really knows...but it is! The ballet was great.
After many many weeks I finally got to see Krista today! I haven't seen her since before Thanksgiving. I feel like it's been forever! But I was busy with work and family and she was busy with work and school. It seemed like every time we tried to get together something would come up. But we had fun tonight. We went out to dinner, went Christmas shopping (I got 6 people done tonight!), and then went to a movie. We saw Four Christmases. I wouldn't recommend it. It was a fun concept for a moive, but like most movies these days - there were some inappropriate parts that I could have done without.
When I close my eyes and think about the next few days I just have to smile. Tomorrow is Sunday (which I love), and Christmas is in 4 days, and I get to go shopping on Monday and/or Tuesday, and I don't have to go to work at all next week! Sigh. Life is good.

BINGE!!!
20 minutes ago I was happily watching Elf on the couch upstairs. I had forgotten how much I love that movie!! There are so many quotable lines! 10 minutes ago I was so asleep that the thought of waking up made me want to hurl. And now I'm all ready for bed, in my bed...and blogging.
I actually feel pretty rotten right now. I got contaminated. I also got sent home from work early so that I would have to drive in the blizzard AND rush hour traffice. So I decided to make the most of the situation. I at a hamburger for lunch. Then I came home and ate some of the chocolates that someone at work gave me for Christmas (there's no way to know if they're gluten free so I gave them to Wendee). I pretty much ate a little bite of every one and put the rest back in the box! I love it! Then I ate egg rolls. Then I ate pizza and breadsticks. And then Jared and Wendee brought me home some sushi. I actually really like sushi, but it's scary for me to eat anything but a califonia roll when I'm being gluten-free. And now that all of that poison has made it to my intestines I just want to go to sleep and not wake up for a really long time! I'm so lucky that gluten doesn't make me so super sick. I'll wake up tomorrow and feel pretty good. I'll just be real good friends with the potty - no big deal. But, all in all - I think it was worth it.

Christmas shopping
Oh how I love commuting in the snow...except for the part where I hate it!! I left my house this morning with clear skies - no snow to be seen. The roads were dry. Life was good. I got down to 4500 south and suddenly we're going 6 miles an hour and it's a blizzard?? How does that happen? It just is not my favorite! But, I lived and all is well. It's supposed to snow again tomorrow. I'm considering not going in if it's bad enough. I have Christmas shopping I need to catch up on!
I had a really fun night tonight. Sharon called me today and asked what I was doing tonight - which usually means she needs me to do something for her. She told me she needed to do some Christmas shopping. I was agreeable because like I said I need to do some shopping myself. I ddin't know it was going to turn into a marathon night - lasting until 11:30!! But, it was so much fun. We laughed and joked all night long. I love it when Sharon is like that - when she's not mad at anyone or sick or anything. She makes me laugh, I make her laugh and pretty soon we both have stomach aches from laughing so much! I wish there was a way to make her like that all the time! Unfortunately I didn't get any shopping done...lame. Better luck tomorrow...or maybe Monday.
I'm having an internal struggle about work. I originally requested Monday and Tuesday off, but now I'm just not so sure. Maybe it would be better if I just worked Monday and/or Tuesday. I don't know. I guess I'll just see how tomorrow goes. Today was pretty terrible - I was incredibly unmotivated, which is a pretty bad thing when you don't really have anything to do. If tomorrow is like that I'll just take both days off. If I find some good things to do, I might work. We'll see.

Finding strength in the Lord
I feel like the learning experiences just never stop in my family. I got a message from Sharon this morning saying the my brother Chris is in the hospital. He had to have his appendix out and he had kidney stones. No fun. But seriously...first my dad, then Sharon, and now Chris. It's a good thing I'm healthy! Someone in my family has to be.
I read a friend's blog today. She quoted herself in her blog, which I think is probably the coolest thing ever! I hope someday I can say something worthy of quoting myself!! I really appreciated what she said though. She said, "Something I've been contemplating is how sometimes we hit that point where we think we just can't handle life anymore. Yet, the Lord always seems to test our limits further. But when he does, and we realize we can't handle it anymore, we learn that we can find strength in the Lord when we literally have none left. And by doing so prove to God and to ourselves what we are actually capable of. "
I just love that! I totally feel like that is exactly how my life is. Just when I think I can't handle anymore, the Lord give me more. And soon I find that I really can't handle anymore. It's in those times that I really do find strength in the Lord - strength I didn't have on my own. But strength enough to endure.
Ever since I was a really little girl, I have had the gift of empathy. I have a really hard time seeing other hurt. When I was teeny tiny I had a baby blanket. I loved that thing. I slept with it every night, I carried it around everywhere - my blanket and I were inseparable. When I was 5 or 6, my mom got super sick. She was in bed for some time and she told me that one day I came in and offered to let her have my blanket for the night to help her feel better. That probably doesn't seem like a big deal, but to me at 5 years old it was a big deal. I would give anything, even my blanket that I loved so much, to ease someone else's pain. I have a very hard time when someone I love is hurting and there is nothing I can do to help. I have a dear friend who is hurting right now. I have grown to really love this friend and if there was something I could give her to ease her pain I would do it in a heart beat! I know that there is probably nothing I can do but pray...and pray I will. I know that she will find that strength in the Lord and prove to God and to herself what she is capable of.

I lived!!
I seriously almost died this morning!! It was quite the traumatic experience. I left for work this morning, and it was snowing. I knew it was going to be an adventure when I turned out of my culdesac and headed up the hill. I got about half way up the hill and then my car stopped going. My tires were spinning, but the car slowly began to move backwards. I ended up backing back down the hill and taking a different road up to main street. But that was just the beginning. I got on I-15 only to find it crawling at 25 miles per hour. I couldn't handle going 25 - there was not enough snow to go that slow! So I got off I-15 and took Legacy instead. Legacy was clear and moving much better than I-15. Eventually I met up with 215. It was a little slower, but still better than I-15. We were going pretty well when a car ahead of my spun out of control. I watched it spin until it was perpendicular to the flow of traffic, headed straight for the median. I watched this car get hit, and hit again, and hit again. It was like a pin ball game - it got bounced around from lane to lane. There were probably 6 or 7 cars that got hit! My car was the first car to make it through this disaster without being hit. I slowed way down and was going to stop to call 911 and see if there was something I could do. I always keep an extra coat in my car in case there's an emergency like that. But, as I looked in my rear view mirror I saw a cop car. They had been just behind me. I figured that if the law enforcement was already on, I would probably be safer just getting on my way. When I decided I wasn't going to stop, I lost it. I started crying and hyperventilating. I spent the next 15 minutes of my drive saying over and over to myself, "You're okay. You're okay." Eventually I calmed down. I feel extremely blessed to not only have lived through that experience, but to come out untouched! It could have been really bad!
As soon as I got to work I started to stress about the drive home. I have to figure something out. If the weather is like that again, or worse, I can't drive that long drive to the office. It's just plain not worth it! All day I thought about my options - just calling in and saying I wasn't coming. I could maybe take the train and trax. I don't know. Luckily I only have to work for 3 more days this week and then I get a break! I won't have to drive at all if I don't want to!
I feel like I'm making waves at work. I'm just not happy with the way my Jr. Jazz program is panning out so I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can improve it - what I can change. I think I've probably changed my limit for this season. I think from now on I won't make any more changes, but do my best to make things work the way they are.
I almost stopped for a cheeseburger on my way home from work today. I spent most of the day feeling pretty crappy. But, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm such a chicken!

Important lessons
I love to sleep with my room a tad on the cold side. I don't like to be cold...I like to warm all snuggled up in my blankets. I like the room to be cold so I don't get too warm. Last night I climbed into bed and instead of falling right to sleep I laid there...cold! I just could not get the blankets to warm enough. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I opened my heater vent to let the warm in and I added an extra blanket to my bed. I was sound asleep in no time! Then, at 4:00 this morning I woke up sweating!! I was so hot! I learned a very valuable lesson last night. If it's too cold in my room I will either open the heater vent OR put an extra blanket on my bed, not both!
Work today was good. I saw a few more teams play basketball tonight. It was just more of the same. More of the same rowdy boys. More of the same disrespect. More of the same bad sportsmanship. More of the same technical fouls. More of the same...I hate it! I called Krista tonight and made her promise that when she has high school boys she will teach them to have respect! I just don't understand! I've been working with my boss and my boss's boss to figure out a way to elevate the level of expectations for these kids. As the years go on, I want the high school kids to know that if they are going to play for Sandy City Jr. Jazz they better be prepared to be good sports and show respect! I just have to figure out how I can get there and how I can keep thing under control until I can get there.
I went to my ward family home evening tonight. It was probably one of the best ones I've been to. I think one thing that really helped was that there were a lot less people than there usually are. Our lesson was very simple and the Spirit was there and testifying. It was cool. I'm growing rather fond of my ward...funny how that happens when I've never really cared for it.
I worked out my vacation schedule for the holidays. I'm pretty excited about it. All I have to do it get through Friday and I'm free for two weeks! I have to work two half-days during those two weeks, but that hardly counts! Having a full time job with benefits and paid days off is great!
I'm fairly certain I've been contaminated again. And, I'm pretty sure I know what I've poisoned myself with. I didn't feel good on Friday. I was okay on Saturday and Sunday and now I feel sick again. There is only one thing I ate of Friday and today that might be problematic. There was a box of choclates delivered to our office. I checked the ingredients and they were all safe. But I hear the chocolates were hand-dipped at a small store in town. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have all of thier ingredients listed...and I'm pretty sure I'm paying for it. Yuck! I won't eat any more...or anything else that might be questionable.

Weakness
Everyone has weaknesses. That's what makes us humble. That's how Heavenly Father teaches us. I am struggling with one weakness in particular. I have this ability to get myself into situations that are not the best for me because I don't like to hurt other people. I have found myself in relationships and friendships that are not healthy because they are all give and no take - on my part. I give and give and give and get little in return. I know that it happens and I let it happen simply because I'd rather do that than see someone else get hurt. I am finding myself in that situation with my sister. I love my sister dearly and I am proud of some of the change she has made in her life recently. But I'm starting to feel like I'm giving and giving and giving...all the time. She is struggling right now - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. And it seems like every time she has another struggle, she calls me. I am happy to help, really I am. But how do I tell her that there will come a point when I have to say no. How do I tell her that I can't live her life, I have to live my own. How do I tell her that she's gotten herself into certain situations and she can't expect someone else to fix it for her? I just don't know. I guess I'll just pray a lot and have faith that Heavenly Father will guide my actions so that neither one of gets hurt.

Wahoo!!
I finally did it!! I have been working on starting my food storage for months now. I got all the stuff to can gluten free food storage months ago. The problem has been getting a hold of the stupid home canner. You have to check it out from the food storage center. It's been a joke. Wendee pretty much did all the work to get the thing for me. I went over this morning to pick it up. Wendee told me that they told her to be there right at 9:00 to pick it up. I was there are 9:00. After waiting around for 15 minutes or so. the couple missionaries told me that the canner wasn't in yet. The woman that had it yesterday had not turned it back in yet. I was pretty irritated. I ended up waiting a good hour or so before I was set and ready to go with the canner.
When I got home I had to get ready. I bought my mom tickets to the Jon Schmidt concert for her birthday in October. The concert was today. It was lots of fun. I just love Jon Schmidt. I've probably been to too many of his concerts! He is just so talented! There was a part of the concert where Jon invited his dad out. His dad is 80 and he is just as goofy as Jon. He told some jokes and then he played the harmonica. I got a little teary because it reminded me of my own grandpa. My mom's dad was an amazing man. One of his many talents was playing the harmonica. I remember listening to him play the harmonica and the guitar at the same time. I wish digital cameras were as big back then as they are now. I would like to have a video of him doing that. I miss him.
It snowed today - more than it has all winter so far. It's a little crazy to me that we don't have much snow yet. I'm sure it will come eventually. Because of the snow my mom and I had to drive pretty slowly. The roads were slick. We didn't get home until 6:00ish. I made some dinner quick and then I started my canning adventure. I brought all the stuff upstairs, filled the cans, sealed them, and then marked them. I got 20 cans worth of stuff done. By the time I was done with those steps I was out of motivation. I let them sit on the kitchen floor for a while before I got up the desire to find a home for them. I did eventually get it all put away in the storage room.
The stuff that I had bought to can was taking up a lot of room in my bedroom. I didn't realize just how much space it was taking up until I got it all out. I spent some time later tonight cleaning my room...it feels so empty. But, I like it! I'm one step closer to having a real room - with a real furniture and stuff. Maybe after Christmas.

The Gift of Sleep
I love my bed. I love the feeling of knowing that my day is over and I can climb into my warm, comfy, safe bed. I have never really struggled to fall asleep as long as I'm in my own bed. I know that that is a blessing straight from my Heavenly Father. I'd probably be a wreck all the time if I struggled to sleep. There are some days (like today) that I just understand why I make the decision I do about sleep. I had to opportunity to go to sleep early tonight - to get some good sleep. But, instead I went to Wal-mart to buy my neice a birthday present and then I ate dinner and then I watched TV. Now it's almost 1:00 in the morning and I don't even get to sleep in tomorrow! Why would I do that?? Why didn't I just go to bed??
I left work early today. My mom invited me to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Chior concert tonight. I had to be home early enough to change my clothes and make it back downtown. Finding a place to park down there was a joke!! But, we eventually found a place to park and we made it to the Conference Center in time. The concert was fabulous. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. We sat on the same row as Elder Bednar. We were like two feet away from him at one point. I should have talked to him, but I didn't. I kind of feel like that would get old to the Brethren. It would get old to me - having everyone recognize me and want to talk to me. Plus, he had his back to us and he was talking to people he actually knew. It was still super fun to see him! Elder Ballard was there too. He sat on the row in front of us. It was actually his tickets that we got. My sister-in-law Jamie's mom is Elder Ballard's daughter. Tami - Jamie's mom - gave my mom the tickets. Kind of complicated, but that's how we got such awesome seats - right in the front!! President Monson was there, too. Everyone in the conference center stood when he came in and it got super quiet. It was awesome. That man is truly a man of God!
I've been contaminated by something. I've pretty much gotten used to living my life gluten free. But days like today are the days that really, really bug me. I'm super careful about what I eat. I don't cheat and most of the time if something is questionable, I pass. So I don't understand why I feel so crappy right now!! I don't know what it was that made me sick. But man, I don't feel good! I'm sure I'll sleep it off tonight and feel better in the morning.
I wish there were more hours in the day tomorrow. It's going to be a full day. I've been waiting for a long time to get the canner from the cannery place. I really want to have some food storage but I have to do it myself at home because I'm too nervous to buy from the cannery. There's just too much wheat in that place! I bought a bunch of stuff to can, but it's just been sitting in my room for a few months now. Wendee reserved the canner for me tomorrow. I have to be over there by 9:00 in the morning to pick it up. I wish it wasn't quite so early!! Then my mom and I are going to a Jon Schmidt concert in the afternoon. After that I will probably try and get some more Christmas shopping done. I have a few mor ideas than I did the last time I went. Maybe I can get it all done tomorrow...that would be sweet.

Annoyed
I need to learn to not let things bother me so much! I get annoyed so easily. I do a good job of not letting little things bug me for long, but when something does bug me, it bugs me a lot! I just got a phone call from one of the high school kids that works for me. She has my cell phone number so that if she has a problem while she's working she can call me and I can help her. She wasn't working tonight, but that didn't stop her from calling me at 10:00 tonight to tell me that she can't work on Saturday. Her excuse is that she has to take the ACT test - which is actually a very valid excuse. School is important and the ACT is important to get into college. BUT, I happen to know that you have to sign up for the ACT months in advance which means she could have called me months ago! I was kind of snappy with her and I told her she needed to call me tomorrow at the office. Tomorrow when she calls she will not get off as easily as I'm sure she hopes she will. I'm already having a hard time with high school kids not accepting responsibility. I know I can't teach them all, but gosh darn it I will teach the ones I can!!
Today went by really fast. I got to leave work at 4:00. We had our office Christmas party. I couldn't eat any of the food they were going to have so they just gave me some money and I picked up some dinner to go from Outback. We played a little gift game, which was actually a lot of fun. It was just entertaining to see people outside of the office. It's still kind of weird to me that I have a real job - with office Christmas parties and everything!

Change
Change is hard for me. And when the change is going to be hard for me, I like to avoid it until it's absolutely necessary. There are some changes that will happen in the near future at work and I am not very happy about them. I like to pretend it's not really going to happen. I know that's probably not very heathy, but I like it better that way. Today at work that seemed to be theme for the day - what are we going to do when Melissa is gone? I did my best to ignore it and change the subject, but the truth is - I can't avoid it much longer. I really do need to figure out what I'm going to do when Melissa is gone! I can't just shut myself in my office and cry all day, which is kind of what I would like to do...I'll have to figure it out!
I went to my sites tonight to drop some things off and watch a little bit of the games that were being played. I was super disappointed! I have been less than impressed with the utter lack of respect the high school boys have for everything!! They don't respect rules, coaches, site supervisor, refs, or me!! I've been thinking all night about what I can do to help them see that this isn't acceptable behavior! I'm pretty sure I'm going to send out a nasty email tomorrow. These boys are set on having a tournament at the end of the season. I told them at the beginning of the season that the trounament would be based on sportsmanship through the season. I'm going to write them an email tomorrow and tell that unless I see a drastic improvement in sportsmanship there will be no end of season tournament! I'm sick of it and it needs to get better.
I got to play racquetball tonight. I love to play racquetball! Unfortnately, my game was no where to be found tonight! I pretty much sucked...bad. But, I guess I can't expect anything else. I haven't been playing...and I haven't been running. Hopefully I will be able to get my game back soon! I love to play, but it's a little more fun when I can win at least one game!!

A laugh a day...
I am in a really good mood...for no reason in particular. I love it! I've had a wonderful night. I left work a little early because I told Jared and Wendee I would watch the kids while they went to the temple. I love leaving work early. For some reason I just really struggle with the hours from 3 to 6, so cutting those hours short makes me a happy camper.
I came to find dinner already made for me. I know it's silly and sounds like a simple thing, but I just really, really appreciate it! Wendee always makes yummy dinners and it's awesome when I don't have to think about what I'm going to eat for dinner! I'm so spoiled!
Most of the time when I watch the kids, we eat dinner, get our pajamas on and watch a movie. Tonight we couldn't do that - no movies on school nights. So the kids and I played games instead. Josh and I played mancala and then we all played candyland. I remember playing candyland by myself when I was teeny tiny. Good times! The kids just cracked me up all night long. Maybe that's why I'm in a good mood. Laughing out loud is probably one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. I don't think people do it often enough. That's one of the reasons I love living here at Jared's house. I'm guaranteed a laugh every day - if not from the kids, then from Jared or Wendee.
Funny story of the night. Holly came downstairs and asked for a snack - ritz crackers to be exact. She has a little pocket on the front of her jammy's shirt. She opened the pocket big and said, "put them in my pocket." I put them in her pocket. Jacob was right there watching and he came up to me and pulled on the neck of his jammy's and said, "Put them in my pocket." It was hilarious. I gave the crackers to him in his hands because I didn't want to put them down his shirt. He then proceeded to shove the crackers down the neck of his pajamas! I was laughing so hard I couldn't get them out! I'm sure it's one of those things where you just had to be there...but I thought it was really funny!
I ran out of clean clothes today. It was a good thing I came home early and spent the extra time at home because it gave me a chance to get all my clothes clean. I even put them all away, which is more than can say about the last time I did laundary! I also made some bread. I tried a new recipe for the bread and I don't think it turned out quite as good. Maybe it will taste better tomorrow...I doubt it, but it's always nice to be optimistic!
I get to sleep in just a little bit tomorrow. I'm going to the dentist...I'm not excited about it. I love it when my teeth are all super clean, but I hate cavities and I always have cavities!! Maybe I won't get any tomorrow. I can only hope!

Winning the Prize
Today I came home from work and I told Wendee, "I won the prize today at work." She said, "Oh really?" I said, "Yes...I gave it to myself!" At my house we often talk about "winning the prize." The "prize" is always something different...but it's always a good thing. And you "win the prize" for doing good things. Today I gave myself the prize at work because I came up with a brilliant plan! I was having a really hard time feeling like I was organized enough to do everything I have to with the Jr. Jazz leagues. After stressing about how unorganized everything was, I was blessed with inspiration. All it took was a few manila envelopes and suddenly I feel so much better. There are a bunch of papers I have to get to my site supervisors every night. Every night they turn those papers back in. I was stressed about them getting lost or something. Today I made envelopes for each of the sites on all the different days. Now every night the site supervisors just have to look for their envelope and then at the end of the night they can turn everything back in in the envelope. So simple!! And yet, it will make a huge difference. Heavenly Father must have known I needed that sense of organization. I know it wasn't only me that thought of that idea!
I found out this morning that my sister had to go to the emergency room last night. I guess she tried to call me to help her, but my phone was on silent so I didn't get it until this morning. She had some cysts on her ovaries that burst last night. She's okay now. She got the run around at the hospital so she went to her regular doctor today instead. He said she could have surgery to fix it, but he told her not to do it because she's having surgery on her back in a couple weeks. So he gave her some good pain killers and told her to rest for a few days and she should feel better. Sometimes I feel bad for her. She's been dealt a crappy hand. But, the Lord has a way of blessing us with the same trials over and over and over again until we learn. Sometimes I wish I could just make her learn!! But I can't so I just love her and help when I can.
My dad is doing well today. He said he threw up more than usual today. I can't even imagine what that would be like - to never know if the food you're eating is going to stay down. And he's been at this for weeks now! I hope he starts to really feel better soon! My mom is not doing so hot. She had a headache. She gets headaches when she gets stressed or overwhelmed. I can't blame her - I would definitely be stressed and overwhelmed if I were her! I hope she starts to feel better soon too!

Watching the kiddos
I've had a good taste of motherhood. I watched the kids last night to this morning. It was awesome!! We went to Christmas Around the world last night and didn't get home until really late. They kids were cranky, but luckily all I had to do was get them into bed. This morning their whispered laughter woke me up at 6:30!! I thought kids needed at least 8 hours of sleep! I finally convinced them that they needed to go back to their beds and either go back to sleep or read a book for an hour or two! They were actually really good about it. The morning was good. I helped guide them through the things they have to do every day - brush their teeth, make their beds, etc. After we got all that out of the way they got to play for most of the morning. They played very well together. I was impressed. I was even able to get in a shower this morning, which I know doesn't always happen when your the mom of 4 kids! I guess I was lucky. It makes me excited to have my own kids someday. I hope they're well-behaved like Jared and Wendee's kids are.
I had planned to go to sacrament meeting with my mom today. Jared and Wendee didn't get home until noon so I missed my church. Just before they came home my mom called and said she wasn't going to church. She said something was off with my dad. She didn't know what it was exactly, but she wanted to be with him. So I went to church with Jared and Wendee. It's just so different to go to a family ward. Singles wards used to bug me because they're so quiet. But now the quiet is normal and the family wards are loud! But, it was still good. They church is still true, even it's a little louder.
I went to my parents house this afternoon. My dad really was having an off day. Yesterday was great - we went on a walk, talked about investing, etc. Today he was asleep on the recliner in his pajamas still. I was there for half an hour before he knew I was there. He said that he had gotten off the pill schedule and it had caused him to not feel so great. I hope it's temporary and he gets to feeling better again tomorrow.

Day 2 of a great weekend!
Last night was a great night...and today was good too! I woke up a little earlier than I would have liked. Sharon needed me to help her out. I went over there and we went to a few stores. She was able to exchange some things that she had bought for things that worked a little better.
After lunch I washed my poor car. It needs a good scrubbing - inside and out. But I wasn't in the mood to do the whole thing so I settled for a good wash on the outside. It looks lots better! I think sometime soon I will take in to be detailed - I'll let someone else do the dirty work! Maybe after Christmas.
This afternoon I went over to my parent's house. My dad is doing really good! He was up and at the computer when I got there. He asked me to help him fix his lazy boy recliner. He sleeps in that recliner because he can't sleep in a bed for very long. It hurst his back. His recliner is making a crazy noise! I did my best. I tipped it upside down and looked hard for something that could be wrong, but I just couldn't find anything! He eventually settled for switching the recliners so the noisy one wouldn't be the one he sleeps in. He has a warranty on the recliners so he'll just call and have someone who knows what they're doing fix it!
My mom and dad and I went on a walk around the block. It was a beautiful day. I can't believe how warm it still is for being December 6th! Where's the snow and the ice? I'm not really complaining - I'm not a super fan of winter, but it just doesn't seem like Christmas time without snow! And Christmas is only two weeks away!
After our walk my dad and I ended up in the kitchen talking. My mom ended up in the living room playing the piano. It was pretty much the perfect set-up. My dad talked to me about investing and my 401K and other "dad" stuff. And my mom played her heart out. I could listen to her play for hours and never be bored! It made me very grateful at that moment to be as blessed as I have been recently. I am so glad my parents are doing so well!!
Tonight I went to see Christmas Around the World in Provo. It's a folk dancing show with dances from around the world. It was really cool. I liked it more than I thought I would. On the way home Wendee's parents dropped me and kids off at home. I am watching them tonight while Jared and Wendee enjoy night 2 of their anniversary get-away. I'm glad to be able to help them out. I hope the kids sleep well tonight. I guess if they don't I can always make up for it at nap time tomorrow. Gotta love Sunday afternoons!

A Friday at home alone
Sometimes a Friday at home alone is exactly what I need to re coop from a long week. Jared and Wendee are celebrating their anniversary away from home this weekend. Wendee's parents took the kiddos so I'm at home alone. Besides the fact that my house is extremely big when it's empty, I've loved this night!!
I had to drive out to one of the schools after leaving the office. To get back to the freeway, I had to pass the mall. I have been needing to get some Christmas shopping done and I decided tonight was a good a night as any. So I stopped. Unfortunately I wasn't really in a shopping mood. I was able to cross six people off my list, which is awesome for one night. But I would have really to be able to say I'm done!! Soon...I'll be done soon!
After making my purchases I drove home. I was going to stop at pier 49 and get some gluten-free pizza, but Melissa texted me and told me that traffic was terrible on I-15. So I took 215 and Legacy...which is not the way to Pier 49. Instead, I made my own pizza here at home. I got caught up on all the recorded tv shows I've missed this week. Then I started a movie and wrapped all the presents. I feel quite accomplished!
Jared and Wendee have a great big bathtub in their bathroom. I love that tub. Tonight I was totally ridiculous. I took my laptop up their bathroom and watched a movie in the tub! It was pretty much the coolest thing I've ever done.
Somewhere in the mix of the night Sharon called me. She needs me to help her run some errands tomorrow. I'm happy to do and I'm really glad she called to ask. But, that means I have to wake up a bit earlier than I would choose for a Saturday with nothing on the agenda! Good thing I love her lots or I would have told her no!
This week has been long and stressful, but totally worth it after tonight! Isn't it great how one night can make things seem so much better?

How far I've come
I am slowly but surely developing a bad habit of staying up too late!! I should probably fix that - sooner rather than later!
I've thought a lot today about how far I have come. I've been working a lot with high school aged kids - mostly boys. I've come to this conclusion - they're not smart, they're not nice, and they don't care. But, when I was in high school, I knew that some boys were dumb, but they didn't seem as bad to me as they do now. I guess I should give some of them credit. Some of them are smart, and nice, and they do care. But they are definitely the minority.
I've also worked a bit with people who are doing things for the first time. Today I trained a site supervisor who had never really supervised before. It reminded me a lot of me. I ended up where I am right now because I got sucked into volunteering for Intramurals at BYU-Idaho back in the day. The first night I showed up to volunteer I was scared out of my mind. I was not a social person and I really struggled to talk to people I didn't know. I still don't really like to talk to people I don't know, but I don't struggle with it in a work situation anymore. I watched my new site supervisor as she found her place in the mix of everything. She did a lot better than I did on my first day a few years ago. I'm proud of her. And I'm proud and grateful for the experiences I've been blessed with to get me here. My Heavenly Father has guided my path to get me to where I am right now. There's no way I could deny that. And seeing how He's guided my past makes it easier to know that he will direct my future. I can't think of any better hands to be in.
Wendee and I might be telepathic. This afternoon I started thinking that I really wanted to go see Twilight tonight. I was trying to figure out how I should go about asking. Should I ask Wendee if she wanted to go. Or should I ask Jared if Wendee and I could go. I was undecided. Just before I got off work I got a text from Jared that said that Wendee wanted to go see Twilight and asked if I wanted to go with her. Crazy! Apparently she had been planning since Monday to try to go tonight, but she kept forgetting to ask me. I must have just got that vibe or something because somehow I got the message! We did go see the movie. I liked it. It wasn't my favorite. I'm pretty sure that it's one of those movies that will be better at home. But, regardless of the quality of the movie, it was fun to go out just me and Wendee. It doesn't happen very often...pretty much never, but it was fun.

Pumpkin Pie!
It has been quite a day! My car registration expired on November 30. I've been driving illegally for a couple days. I know that's bad...so this morning I went to the car testing place and got my car tested and registered! It feels wonderful to be legal again! It doesn't take much!
Work was stressful. I stressed all day about the new Jr. Jazz leagues. But, I'm feeling a little better after tonight. I stayed late today to go to all the sites. It seemed to be going well - I got all my supervisors rolling. Then I got a phone call from one of the site supervisors. She said she just wanted me to know what was going on - they had called 911. Apparently one of the referees got dizzy, sat down, and then passed out. They called 911, the ambulance came and he ended up leaving in teh ambulance. It was pretty intense. I hope that he will be okay! I'll have to give him a call tomorrow and see what's going on. Besides that crazy business the rest of the night went really well. I'm encouraged.
I have been craving pumpkin pie so bad since Thanksgiving! I didn't get any pie on Thanksgiving. I triend eating pumpkin pie ice cream...that didn't do it. So today for my lunch break I went over to the grocery store and bought all the stuff I needed to make some pumpkin pie. It is entirely too late right now - I didn't get home until almost 10:00. I probably should have just waited until tomorrow to make the pie. But, I couldn't wait! I don't like warm pumpkin pie so this works out. I'll finish baking it tonight and then it will be all ready for me to eat tomorrow!
I haven't seen my dad since he's been home. I'm really hesitate to go. There have been a few people at work that have been sick. I'm not sick, but I still worry that I'm carrying the germs. He can't get sick. That would just be terrible. Maybe I'll stop by there tomorrow on the way home for just a few minutes.

Who needs a title anyway?
I really did sleep in this morning. I didn't sleep as long as I would have liked. I live in the basement and when the kids come downstairs, my sleep time is over. But, I still got more sleep than I had been getting, which is awesome! Hopefully I can get some more sleep tonight and be good to go!
I'm feeling discouraged at work. I just don't know what to do with the older boys Jr. Jazz leagues. They're just out of control. Last night was the first night of games. I had one kid get 2 technical fouls (if they get 3, they get kicked out of the league). And I had a game get called early on account of "unruly behavior." All on the first night!! I just don't know how some high school kids can be so sweet and considerate and other high school kids are just plain dumb! I hate feeling like I don't have a handle on the league...and it's barely started!! I'm going to sit down tomorrow and get super organized so I don't feel as out of control as I do today.
Tuesday nights are institute nights. I didn't make it institute tonight...again. I didn't go last week because I went to the hospital instead. And I can't go next week because I told Wendee I would babysit so they could go to the temple. I must admit - I'm a little bummed. I really like to go to institute. I love being spiritual fed in the middle of week!
My dad is still doing pretty well. My mom said the only gripe she has now is that she likes the temperature in the house to be 68 and my dad likes it to be 73. If that's her only gripe, things must not be too bad! I think it's funny, actually. When I was growing up my dad used to turn the heater way down during the night and then he would kick it back on in the morning. It was always on the chilly side in our house. I remember waking up in the morning when I was little and being so cold. I would go over to the heater on the floor in my room and sit on it with a blanket wrapped around me. My dad just liked it to be cold. It's funny to me that now my dad's the one who wants it warmer! But, I guess it's okay if he changes his mind. At least he's home!

Good news!!
My dad came home today!! I would have never guessed that he would convince them to let him out so soon. But, he's a stubborn man and he does what he needs to to get his way. He's still pretty sick, but I'm just relieved he's home now. I really hope that he will continue to get better. I hate to think about him ending up in the hospital again.
Work today was hard. We had a staff meeting this morning and I had to try really, really hard to keep my eyes open. They just refused! Oh well. Things worked out pretty well today. They didn't go quite as smooth as I would have hoped, but I think it worked out all right. I'm glad I have a couple days to regroup and reorganize before I have to start another league.
I had family home evening at my house tonight. I signed up to do it a few weeks ago. It was complete madness. There were too many people to fit in my living room. It was tough to give the lesson because there were so many people - and because I got all flustered. I thought about the lesson all day and I imagined to go so much smoother! I hope that someone benefitted from it. If nothing else, it was fun to have everyone over. Bit by bit I am starting to enjoy the people in my ward.
Tonight I am determined - I will get at least 8 hours of sleep! Even if it means I have to go into work a little bit later...I will do it!! I've neglected sleep for too long.

Exhausted
I am a selfish sleeper. I know myself well enough to know that if I don't get enough sleep I don't function very well. More specifically, if I don't get enough sleep, I cry. I can tell that I haven't had enough sleep because I've been fighting the tears all day! It makes me very worried for tomorrow. I'm going back to work after a week off. Tomorrow is going to be a stressful work day. And no matter how hard I try I know my mind will be elsewhere. There are just more important things in my life right now than Jr. Jazz basketball! But, I have responsibilities and they can't be neglected. I will just get all the sleep I can tonight and do the best I can tomorrow. That's all anyone can ask anyway.
I feel like things keep going back and forth and back and forth with my dad. Last night he had a fever and puked up everything he ate. Today - no fever, and he did really well with everything he ate. They took him off all the IV stuff he had been getting - at least for part of the day. He seemed to be getting better. But, tonight he threw up again. I really hope he doesn't spike a fever again tonight. I just want him to come home!! I'm tired of the hospital. I'm tired of the shuffle to make sure someone's always there. I don't mind being there - I'm more than happy to help, but it's just wearing on me and I know it's wearing on everyone else too! It will just be better when he's home.
