And then Tuesday was over

I love music. I love all kinds of music. As long as it's clean and it's not too in-your-face-hard-rock I like it. I wake up with a song in my head. I often think in song lyrics. I love music in the background. I love jamming in my car with the stereo turned up real loud. I love my running music. There's a cheesy churchy song that says that music is a gift from our Heavenly Father. I think I agree. I think it's a wonderful gift our Father has given His children to brighten their days!

I was wrong. I have had this impression of someone I know. She hasn't ever been on my list of favorite people. But, I needed her help. I called her and she was so willing and so kind and rushed out of her way to my aid. I pretty much owe her big time. Now I feel pretty rotten for having such a bad impression of her before. It just goes to show that we really are not in any kind of a position to judge other people. I will have to do better to look on people's hearts rather than just to conclusions from first impressions.

I got to go to institute tonight. I usually love institute, but I've struggled with it the past couple weeks. I have a hard time when people get really worked up about things that don't really matter. I personally think that if there's a question that doesn't really have an answer, why stress about it? For example, my teacher proposed a question - are there evil people in the world? Some people said yes, some said no. They all had good points. But really - does it matter? If there are people in this world that are evil, does it do me any good to label them as being evil? I don't think it does. That doesn't mean I have to be best friends with people who choose to do evil things. But I can avoid them without labeling them right? So why stress about whether or not there are evil people in this world. Is there really an answer to the question? If there's not I'd rather not spend an hour and a half debating it.

There goes Monday.

I feel like time is whizzing by me faster and faster every day. I think back on my day and I wonder how it went it by so quickly. It's kind of a weird feeling. Besides the fact that this day went by fast, it was a good day. Work was good - rather uneventful, but good.

I got home in time for family home evening. I know it might be silly, but I love my family home evening. Tonight we went down to Temple Square. We thought it was a good activity since conference is this weekend. We also got to take some picture of Melodee in and around the conference center. It was neat to be there tonight. There's just a different spirit around the temple and temple square and the conference center. I know those are holy places and you can tell!

The marathon is coming very quickly. My boss asked me today if I was excited or nervous. I'm not sure I could pin-point just one emotion. I am excited...and I am nervous...and I'm proud...and I'm anxious for it to be over...and I'm worried...and I'm tired!!

I love Sundays!

I love Sundays. I love sleeping in a little bit, not to much. I love taking my time to get ready. I love going to church. I love eating lunch with everyone in the kitchen after church. I love afternoon naps. I love visiting family. I love Sunday dinner at Oma and Opa's house. I love playing games with my family. And I love that I usually get to bed at a decent hour. If only the day after Sunday wasn't Monday!!

I'm excited to start this week. I feel like I've been building up to this week for an awful long time. I get to run the marathon on Saturday. I have mixed feeling about the whole thing. I'm super excited. I've worked really hard to get here and I'm excited to see it all pay off. I know that this marathon is going to be better than the last one. But, I'm also secretly scared that I will bonk on Saturday and it won't be as good as I anticipated. Really all I want to do is beat my time from the last marathon. It shouldn't be too hard to do. I really think I'm in a good position now to do that. I really hope that things work out well - that's there not too much stress getting down there and that I don't get sick or hurt this week. I'm sure it will all turn out great! And then I get a break! At least two whole weeks with no running! We'll see if I'm ready to run after that. Oh how excited I am for a break!

A full Saturday.

I feel today has been a full day. I woke up early. I think that should be against the law on Saturdays!! Maybe in two weeks I'll finally get to sleep in on a Saturday...that will be wonderful!! I ran two miles on the treadmill in the wee hours of the morning, followed by 3 miles outside with Wendee. I got ready lightning fast so I could make it to Sandy before 9:00. There were a couple teams that I wanted to go watch. I've gotten a few complaints and I wanted to see with my own eyes exactly what's happening. I worked for a couple hours, and when I was satisfied with what I had seen I left.

I went straight from work to Salt Lake. Melodee is singing in conference next weekend and they had a dress rehearsal today. They said that parents could come to the dress rehearsal and during the last ten minutes they could take pictures. I told them I would go take some pictures since I was going to be down that way anyway. Unfortunately things didn't work out like we hoped they would. They ended up ending the reheasal 30 minutes early so they could do a security sweep of the conference center for the Relief Societ broadcast tonight. So I didn't actually get to take pictures of cute Melodee singing.

I stopped by temple square since I was there. I have a good friend serving a mission on temple square. She has been known to get on my nerves quite a bit, but since she's been gone I've really missed her! I was able to see her today! I know it's probably not the best for me to visit her and I've done a really good job staying away. This is the second time I've been there. But today I felt like it was a super good thing for her. She's kind of struggling a bit and I think it was good for her to have something good happen. Hopefully it will re-energize her to keep going!! She's doing a great job and I have a lot of confidence in her!

When I got back from Salt Lake Wendee and I set out to fulfill my quest to find jeans. We went down to the Gateway. It was the 4th mall I've been to looking for jeans and...I came home empty-handed...again!! I'm glad Wendee came with me though. I feel validated. She got to see just how big of a joke this is getting to be. We were walking out and Wendee suggested Old Navy. I've never been able to wear Old Navy jeans - they just plain don't work for me. But Wendee suggested I give them a try. I grabbed one of every style (that wasn't tapered at the bottom) and went to the dressing room. I tried the first pair on and I busted up laughing right there in the dressing room. I tried all the rest - all very comical! I was on my way out when Wendee came in and wanted to see. I put a pair back on so she could see. Her response was, "Oh....yeah....those aren't good...you should take those off now." LOL!! And the quest continues.

We ended up shopping again later in the afternoon after a short break for Melodee's violin recital - she did wonderful!! During round two of the day Wendee found some pants and some shoes and I came home empty handed...but I wasn't expecting to find anything during round two!

We got home just in time to change and scarf down some dinner and rush to the General Relief Society broadcast. It was amazing!! I hope that Natalie was able to hear some of the things that were said because I think they would be a boost to her right now. It's so amazing to me how a talk can be delivered to whole church and yet still be so absolutely personal. It boggles my mind!

Wendee and I went over to my parent's house for a second to drop something off for my mom. We walked in and my dad was all bundled up on the recliner. He didn't look so hot. He said it had been a rough afternoon. My mom said he threw up and wasn't feeling the best. But, there's good days and bad days, right? My mom also said that they're planning to do transplant #2 the first part of November. Somehow I didn't think it would come up again so quickly! I'll be interested to see if #2 goes as well as #1 has gone. I really wish there was something I could do. I will have to really think hard about that. It's hard to watch my dad suffer and know there's nothing I can do to help - I can't even hug him! And I just don't even know what I can do for my mom. I know she's having a hard time. I'll have to make it a point to find some way I can serve them this week.

Disaster Part 3 and a New Disaster All Together

This morning Melissa and I continued to make sense of our picture disaster. Our photographer guy came to help us sort through the mess. He did a really good job of matching up the extra pictures with the team they belonged to...but we still had lots of work to do once we got that taken care of. We spent all morning and part of the afternoon doing pictures. We were able to at least get Saturday's pictures together for the site supervisors to hand out tomorrow. We'll tackle the rest of the days of the week on Monday. By the time we were done with Saturday we were grumpy!! It was just so annoying and SO much work!!

After we finished the pictures I needed a break from the office and work. I eat lunch at my desk which leaves me free for my lunch break to do something more enjoyable. It's nice to get out of the office for a while. It surprises me how much difference a half an hour can make. Today for my lunch break I went over DSW shoe store. I have a coupon...hahaha!! But, I didn't find anything worth spending my coupon on. Next door to DSW there's a Ross. I went in. I don't know why I went in in the first place. I don't like Ross. I'm not patient enough. I feel like everyone else finds really cute things there, but I just can't find cute things there. I was on my way out - empty handed (like has been the case with my last 3 shopping trips) when I passed by rows and rows of purses. I have been looking for a new purse for a while. I haven't put as much effort into that as I have finding jeans. But, I've still been looking for a while. Ross had 5 rows of just purses and it seemed like no two purses were the same! I looked for a long time and I finally found one I liked!! It's black and it's cute. It's bigger than my 0ld one, which is what I wanted, but not to big! Wendee got a new purse a few days ago. It's cute and red and a little sassy. When I told Jared about my new purse he asked if it was as cute as Wendee's. I told him it was cute, but that it had less personality than Wendee's. To that Wendee replied, "Get it - Purse-onality. Ha ha!

After my lunch break we had a training meeting for our new scheduling software. I thought the pictures were a disaster, but trying to schedule our games is going to be a just as bad if not worse!! At this point I'm cosidering making my own schedules for all my leagues rather than using the software. Oh the joys of working in recreation!! I really do love my job!

Today my cousin Susan got married. I went to her reception. It was fun to see some family that I don't usually get to see. I got to see my Aunt and Uncle who have been in Latvia for the past 3 and a half years as the mission president and wife there. The reception was nice. I've been to a lot of receptions with dancing, but none of the other receptions seemed to have as good a response as Susan's. There were a lot of people busting a move in that gym. It was fun. They served ice cream. I think that is a fabulous idea! Who needs cake anyway??

After the reception Jared took us all out to dinner at the Outback. I love that place. I love that I know that they have a "gluten free button" in the kitchen! I think the next time I go I'm going to ask if I can go back and see the gluten free button I've heard so much about!

Disaster Part 2...and the quest continues

Today was dubbed the "Soccer Picture Disaster Fall 2008 Part 2." I spend the entire day dealing with the disaster that is our soccer pictures. And I'm pretty sure I'll get to spend most of tomorrow (if not all of tomorrow) working on soccer pictures...again! Did I mention that they're a disaster??

I have continued my quest to find new jeans...and I've failed...again. I went over to the mall on my lunch break. I decided desperate times call for desperate measures. I did something I never thought I would do - I went to Buckle. Don't get me wrong, I really like Buckle jeans - on other people. I personally have never owned a pair and I find it absolutely ridiculous that anyone would pay that much money for a pair of jeans - especially a pair that already has holes in them! I gave it a shot. I tried on more jeans than I can count. I probably could have found a good pair if I kept at it - but I had to hurry back to work. I guess that's the down side of shopping on your lunch break! And the quest continues.

Right now I'm seriously considering not getting up in the morning. I think I could use a day off - just sleep in...lounge around...watch a movie....wear my sweats all day...take a nap...maybe make some treats...*sigh*...that would be great! I really haven't been feeling very well today. Maybe if I still don't feel good tomorrow I can call in sick. I could totally get out of the picture disaster!! Hahaha! That would be awesome!

Soccer Picture Disaster 2008

I have survived the first day of the "soccer picture disaster fall 2008." We had a pretty bad experience with the people who did soccer pictures for us in the spring so we put it out to bid for the fall. Now we're with a new company who assured us that they could handle our volume. Apparently they shouldn't have been quite so confident. We got maybe half of the soccer pictures today. We opened them up to find that most of them weren't sufficiently labeled. Imagine opening a set of pictures and you see lots of little kids wearing blue soccer jerseys. You don't know what age they are. You don't know what day of the week they play. You don't know what park they play at. You don't know who they're coach is. How in the world does this company expect us to get all these pictures out! So frustrating! That's not to mention all the kids who have their names spell wrong on their pictures, or the poor kid wearing a blue jersey in his individual picture who has the wrong team (wearing green) in the team picture slot. What a disaster! Our contact is supposed to come out tomorrow morning. We'll see what he can do to remedy the situation.

I need new jeans - badly! I've been shopping two seperate times with the intent to buy jeans. Both times I came home empty handed. Tomorrow I'm going to try again. Third time's the charm, right? I don't know what I'm going to do if I have to wear the same pair of jeans every day for the whole winter!

I ran on the treadmill after work today. It was kind of a bummer. I was supposed to play racquetball tonight, but that just didn't work out. I wasn't excited to run on the treadmill. It's usually hard and hot and boring. But, tonight was actually good. It wasn't too hot and it wasn't too hard. I was actually very encouraged, which is a good thing considering the marathon is only 9 days and 8 hours away!! I'm excited!

Comfort zones

I took Riana to the airport this morning. I told her we should leave here at 8:00, but I don't really know what I was thinking - I got up way to early and we probably didn't need to leave quite that early. But I suppose it's better to be early than late right? I hope she has fun in California.

Work today was pretty good. It's still kind of crazy with response from psycho soccer moms and dads. Seriously...people need to calm down and let their kids have some fun! It's not all about winning - why is that so hard to understand?!?! I will be glad when this soccer season starts to wind down. I need to think of something I can do before the next soccer season to help with the sportsmanship issues!

We finally started using our new software at work. I was given the job to be the first to figure out how to put a league together and then teach my co-workers. Our first league of Jr. Jazz basketball filled today so we started putting that league together. There will be some major kinks we need to get worked out, but I think it will work. It's kind of funny to me thought. When I first started at Sandy I hated the program they used! It was pretty bad. But now, after trying the new program for a bit, I would rather use the old program! Even though it's bad, it's familiar - I know to use it. It's more comfortable than this new program. I think that we do that more than we know - shy away from new things that have potential to be better because we're too comfortable with our comfortable ways of life. It's worth at least thinking about I guess. It's like a quote I heard and love - There's no growth your comfort zone and no comfort in your growing zone. We need to get out of our comfort zones!

I'm in a junk food phase. I'm pretty sure it's official. I came home and Wendee had made me dinner - adobo chicken - one of my favorites! I pretty much scarfed it down and then I needed no-bake cookies. I didn't just want them - I needed them. So I made them. I went to institute and when I came home Wendee said I needed to see my cookies. I went into the kitchen and there were triple the number of cookies on the counter. Wendee said, "Your cookies are like rabbits!" I had to make my cookies with special oats - gluten free. When Jared came home he ate some. When he found out they were mine he made Wendee make regular ones. They taste the same, but it's pretty much an unwritten rule in my house that no one else eats my gluten free stuff. It's pretty nice of them. I ate way too many cookies tonight and if I had my way I'd be eating more right now. But, I already brushed my teeth...stupid cavities!!!

A little wax never hurt anyone...

Today had the potential to be a bad day...but things worked out so that it was a good day instead. Everyone that needed to come through for me came through and I didn't even have to stress too bad. One of my baseball leagues ended today!! Hooray! One down, five to go. By the end of this week I'll only have one left! Then I'll just have to worry about soccer.

We've been having a few complaints about soccer recently. There are some very unhappy little soccer players in Sandy. They're upset because they only got to play 5 minutes of thier last game. This is terrible news for us. We don't like kids to be unhappy, and it's actually against the rules for them to sit out more than half the game. We sent out a general email to all the coaches today and reminded them of our policies and our goals as a program. I'm going to have to go watch some games on Saturday and make sure that these coaches really understand that they need to play the kids fairly.

I made bagels again tonight. I learned a good cooking lesson. I learned that wax paper is not a good thing to line a baking pan with. I have a hard time baking things on the baking sheets here. They don't get washed every time they're used so there is baked on cookies and such that will not come off. I should probably just buy a pan I can dedicate to only me. But, tonight I decided to cover the baked on gluten with wax paper. It was too terrible, but it defintely wasn't ideal. There's little bits of wax paper on most of my bagels. I'm hoping it will come off easier when they're not so hot! But I guess even if it doesn't - a little wax never hurt anyone right?

My good friend Riana is here tonight. She is flying to California for a wedding tomorrow morning. She's staying here tonight and I'm driving her to the airport in the morning. I wish it wasn't such a short stay - I miss her! But, the good news is - she brought my cookbook with her!! What once was lost now is found! I'm pretty excited about it.

Sleep it off

I'm having a fight with gluten tonight....I hate it when that happens! My tummy is not happy and the rest of my body feels like it's full of lead! Such is my life. It's not even 10:00 and I'm going to sleep when I'm done writing. Not only do I not feel well from being glutened (yes, gluten is now a verb), I'm also hoping some extra sleep will help me fight the cold that's going around my house. Wendee's pretty sick and so is Jacob. If I'm going to get it I hope it hits soon so I'll be well for the marathon. There's nothing like fighting to breathe while you're trying to run!

I went to a friend's mission farewell today. She is going to Brazil and I couldn't be more happy for her. She did a wonderful job and she's going to be an awesome missionary!

I think I will be glad when tomorrow is over. Tomorrow has potential to either be a great day or an utter disaster. Unfortunately, the outcome is not dependant on me but rather other people. I'm going to stay optomistic that those other people are going to come through and make tomorrow a great day! I like that idea better than the other option.

My brain is turning off. This is the part in the glutening experience where my body shuts down and I sleep it off.

Not quite as I had planned

Today did not turn out at all like I had planned it to. Some parts were a little disappointing, but what can you do? I did my best to make things happen the way I wanted.

This morning Wendee and I ran our last long training run. Two weeks from today we will be done running the St. George Marathon. I'm pretty stoked! Last night I put a bunch of new songs on my ipod. It was just what I needed to jump start the running. I have some really good tunes to run to now!

Jared and I went to Sam's Club today. I've been working on my food storage. Wendee bought me a bunch of #10 cans yesterday and I wanted to get a bunch of rice at Sam's. Before Jared and I went I called Wendee's parents who were supposed to have the canner all week. They were already planning to come over so I just asked them to bring the canner with them. They said they would so Jared and I went shopping. I bought 75 pounds of rice to can. Wendee's parents came - they didn't have the canner. They brought the pressure cooker for bottle canning. I was so bummed! Now I have a ton of food and 20 #10 cans in my room with no way to actually can the food in the cans. I'll have to see what I can do to get on the waiting list to check out the canner myself. Last I heard the waiting list is like 2 months long...not how I planned this to go!

I was pretty bummed about the canner so I didn't really want to stick around. They were watching the BYU football game. I don't hate football but it's not my favorite either. So I went out. The only thing I could really think to do is go shopping. I figured since I didn't find anything last night that would be an okay choice. The shoppoing trip didn't turn out like I expected either. Again, I found nothing! It wouldn't be so bad but I really need some jeans!

Tonight I had planned to go to the Real Salt Lake game. I got some free tickets through work. I invited Bryce to go with me. He had a work party in South Jordan. When I asked him he said it would be over by 7. I figured we could be late - not problem. Tonight I found out the party acutally went til 8. I still figured there would be a good half of the game left, and since I'm not a huge soccer I decided I would be happy with half a game. Again - didn't turn out like I had planned. By the time Bryce got close to the stadium the game was over. I went in by myself when he called and said he was a half an hour away. I watched a little bit.

Wendee caught the cold today. She started sneezing this afternoon. She probably sneezed 35 times in one hour. She's pretty miserable now. I hope she gets over it fast and I hope that if the whole family has to get it, we all get it soon and get it over with! I also hope we haven't given the germs to my dad. I've been really careful to stay away for the past week or so. I don't have the full-blown cold yet, but I haven't been feeling super hot. But Jared was over there today...he could already have the sick germs! Let's hope he doesn't catch it.

Friday, Friday, Friday is my favorite day!!

This week has actually gone by pretty fast. It's kind of shocking that the weekend is here again...already. But, I'm definitely NOT complaining about that! I love the weekend!

I love Legacy Parkway - all over again today! This morning a dump truck lost a load of gravel on I-15. It shut the freeway down completely. Before Legacy I would have been out of luck. I probably would have just called in to work and told them I couldn't make it until they opened the freeway back up. But instead I just hopped on Legacy and still made it to work in decent time. Oh how I love that road!

Today was a pretty low-key day at work. There's not a lot going on that's super pressing so we were all pretty relaxed about just about everything. It made for a pretty breezy day at work.

I did have a meeting today with my boss. He said to come ready to discuss some goals. I considered what I wanted to work on in my career. I thought about the goals that would aid my professional development. I'm toying with the idea of getting a master's degree. I would have to do something part time...and it would probably take a few years. But I really like school. And, Sandy City has a tuition reimbursement program. I would be foolish not to take advantage of that right? But, I'm still just thinking about it. I'm not committed. Mostly I'm terrified to take the GRE. Yikes!

After work I decided I wanted to go shopping. I only have one pair of jeans. Up to this point it's been okay because I've been alternating them with shorts and capris and such. But, since it's getting colder I'm sure I will be wearing jeans more. One pair just isn't going to cut it! I called Krista and we went out in search of jeans. Neither of us found anything! I've come to the conclusion lately that I must not be a very good shopper. Today was the perfect example of that. I need jeans. I have the money to buy jeans. I went shopping jeans. I didn't find any jeans worth buying. Perhaps I'm just too picky? Who knows. On the up side - I didn't spend any money today.

Tomorrow is our last "long run!" I couldn't be more thrilled. We're doing 10 miles tomorrow and it's all down hill from there. I'm running a marathon in 14 days!! AAagghhh!! Too cool!

Thursday's almost here, but....

On Monday I wrote about a seminary teacher I had and the song we used to sing on Fridays. I decided it would be clever to write the lines of the song as the title of my blogs for the week. Today I realized the flaw in my plan. It doesn't really make sense to write Thursday's almost here when Thursday is actually already here...gone in fact! Oh well, what can you do?

We have an apple tree in my backyard. Wendee planted it a few years ago. The first year it didn't bear fruit. Last year I think there were like 3 apples on it - but they never really got ripe. This year there is a ton of apples! The tree looks kind of silly because the branches are all weighed down with a million apples. The best part - the apples are SO good! I could probably eat them all day! I took a few into work today and the people I work with all loved them too. I love fruit season!

Tonight was a good night. I figured out a way to make everything work. I bought my cousin's bridal shower gift on my lunch break. I got home at 6:15 and put it all together - some assembly was required. I changed into my racquetball clothers and ate a bowl of cereal for dinner. By the time I finished all that it was 6:50. Wendee and I left for the shower. We were there by 7:00. We stayed for 20 minutes. I would have liked to stay a little longer, but I didn't feel too bad leaving either. I made it to Layton Surf 'N Swim by 7:35 - only 5 minutes late! I got to play racquetball - always a bright spot in the day! I even won one! It was pretty much amazing. The only thing that would make this night better is if my hair would miraculously be dry. I just got out of the shower and I have to dry it, but I just don't like to blow my hair dry! It takes so long. But, I'll be glad when I wake up in the morning and it isn't a totaly disaster.

Wednesday's getting better cause....

I woke up coughing last night. I coughed a few times and then I couldn't stop. It wasn't very fun. I got up to go running, but I really didn't want to. Wendee and I were talking as we walked up the hill. We decided we don't like to run in the dark so we're not going to do it anymore. We have 2 more 3 mile runs to do this week and 3 2-mile runs to do next week. She asked if I would be able to do them in the morning or when I get home on the treadmill. I thought about it for a bit and I figure that since it only takes me a half an hour to get home from work I should have time to do it then. I also told her I was planning on playing racquetball tonight. So we turned around and came home. She was good and ran during the day. But my racquetball plans didn't work out so well. We're going to play tomorrow instead. I should have run on the treadmill tonight, but I made dinner and relaxed instead. Later tonight I found out that my cousin's bridal shower is tomorrow night so I'll have to figure out how I can go to that and still play racquetball tomorrow! I hope I can make it work. I want to do both! Both good!

I drove the people at work crazy tonight. There's a new song on the radio and it's super catchy and I totally love it! It's about a girl who broke up with her husband and she says, "So what! I'm still a rockstar! I got my rock moves...." It's just good. But, I had it stuck in my head all day!! I would walk through the office singing it and there were a couple people who would pick up wherever I left off. I'm sure I got on some people's nerves. Oh well!

I haven't seen my parents in a while. I don't want to go over there and risk getting my dad sick. I don't really feel sick - I coughed last night and there are times during the day I get stuffed up or sneeze or feel tired, but it's definitely not bad. If my dad had a decent immune system I would go over there. But, he doesn't, so I won't. At least not until I feel 100% for a few days. I should probably call them though and see how things are going.

I made dinner tonight - taco soup. I love that recipe. I got it from the wife of one of my bishop. I had to rewrite that sentence a few times so it wouldn't sound like my one bishop had multiple wives! She is just an amazing lady. They found out shortly after he was released as my bishop that she has celiac. She and her sister ran the celiac support group in Rexburg. I loved that group - it really was a support. Every time I make that soup I think of Sister Wakefield and I can't help but smile.

Tuesday's only fair...

I'm considering naming my first born child Legacy - because of all the joy that Legacy Parkway has brought to my life. I never thought that there would be a day that I could leave Sandy at 5:00 PM and make it home by 5:40 PM. That just wasn't an option. Last Friday when I needed to be home by 6:00 I left at 4:00 and didn't get home until 5:50!! Ridiculous. But, I'm a happy camper when I think about the lack of traffic on I-15!

I got some more good news concerning my commute at work today. A few weeks ago I suggested to my boss that we get some kind of discount for UTA passes. I've been interested in commuting via the frontrunner train and trax, but I just can't justify forking out that much money to be inconvenienced by not having a car at work. Wow that sounds really spoiled of me! I guess what I mean is - I would rather just spend the extra 20 bucks I would save on gas to have my car at my disposal all day. Today I found out that we really are getting UTA passes! If they will provide me the pass for free (or at least discounted) I will totally take advantage of it! I think it will be a really good option in the winter when I have to deal with snow and ice on top of rush hour. I don't know though - if rush hour stays this calm the ice and snow might not be too bad. We'll see.

I think I really am getting a cold. I'm not super happy about it, but I suppose if I have to have a cold I'd rather have it now than in a couple weeks. I woke a few times during the night with one nostril plugged - I hate that! And I've been coughing a little bit during the day today. I didn't feel too stuffed up or too sick today. I went to work. I'm still holding out a little sliver of hope that it's just allergies.

I started my food storage today!! I've been feeling like I need to prepare for the storm for a few weeks now. If something were to happen and we were called to rely on our food storage I would be in a heck of a lot of trouble. Wendee's parents have the canner from the cannary checked out for a week or so. I am taking advantage of that. I bought some baking mix, gluten free oats, and pasta at the store today. I didn't get enough to make a year supply, but I'm super excited it's at least a start. I am planning to go to Sam's Club and get a whole bunch of rice too. When I've done that I think I'll be a little more confident. I'll at least be able to survive for a while. It's empowering to know that I'm prepared...even if it's just a little.

Monday is a bummer....

When I was in seminary I had a crazy teacher named Brother Pearce. Every Friday we sing a song in his class - the Friday song. In the song it says that Monday is a bummer, and today, that was very much true. I woke up and the only thing I wanted to do was throw my phone (aka my alarm clock) across the room and go back to sleep. But, no such luck. We had a staff meeting every Monday morning at 8:30 AM. Lame. I got up thinking that if I did I would wake up a little more and feel a little better about the day. It didn't happen. There were a few times during the process of getting ready for the day that I almost decided to call in sick. My throat still bugs and I really didn't feel very good. But, I eventually decided against it and went to work. Monday morning is usually the only morning I really have struggles with traffic. On all the other mornings I leave a little later and miss most of the traffic. But this morning was smooth sailing! They opened Legacy Highway over the weekend and I think it's doing it's job quite nicely.

Monday only got worse when I got to work. I got there at 8:00 because there was no traffic. I did a few things until 8:30. At 8:35 when no one was gathering for the meeting I found out we really weren't having a meeting today. The man in charge emailed the division heads over the weekend and told them to tell their people...we never got told. Melissa didn't have a good morning either. When I went in to talk to her she was so mad about it she cried! Granted she's a little emotional right now, but I can't blame her one bit because I wanted to cry as well!! We totally could have slept in! Oh well...it's over and hopefully something like this doesn't happen again.

The rest of the day went really well. We're having some issues with our soccer referees. We just plain need some more. There's not a whole lot more we can do though. We have the position open and anyone that applies gets an interview. And if they're competent we hire them on the spot after the interview. But we still don't have enough. And to make it worse, most of them are high school students and some are a little less than reliable. We have to figure some way to get those kids to take responsibility!

The drive home tonight was even better than my drive this morning!! I didn't hit my brakes even one time! Usually I leave work at 6:00 and I'm lucky if I make it home by 7:00. But today I left work at 6:00 and I made it home by 6:25. Yes, I may have been speeding just a little bit. I'm just not used to having to watch my spedometer on the way home. Hopefully I can get used to that before I get pulled over!

Weekends should be longer!

And just like that the weekend is over! Sad day! I'm seriously considering taking a whole week off to just sit in my bed all day and do nothing!! I'm sure it would get old after a few hours, but right now it's sounding really tempting. I'll have to go back and see how many days I requested off for the marathon. I think that would be a good time to take a few days off and just relax at home.

Today we celebrated Wendee's birthday. The day did not goes as well as I'm sure she would have like it to, but she was a trooper. She had a really bad headache and things just kept going wrong. In the end I think there were some good things that help counteract the bad. I was excited to give her her present from me. Yesterday we went up to Park City and she told everyone to get jackets in case it was cold up there. The girls have matching cable zip-up hoodie sweaters. She said, "I wish I had a sweater like the girls'." So I went out and found her a sweater like the girls. She seemed to like it. I love it when I get something for someone that I know they want but that they haven't officially asked for.

I haven't been feeling so hot lately. My throat is pretty scratchy/sore. With Wendee's headache and Jacob's runny nose I'm afraid we're getting the dreaded bug that I hear has been going around. That would just be bad in so many ways! I'll just have to drink lots and get lots of good rest and pray that I'm not really sick. I don't feel sick - my throat just bugs. I think it might be allergies.

Moonlight on my pillow

I turned off my computer last night and rolled over in my bed. I have a laptop and I always type in my blog while I'm laying in my bed. So I rolled over last night to find one of my favorite things in the whole world. I absolutely love it when the light from a full moon spills through my blinds onto my pillow. Maybe it has something to do with my strange obsession for light. Who knows? But I simply love it. The moon is just as full, if not more full tonight. We'll see if it's in the right place to shine in my window again tonight!

I didn't end up running 20 miles today. Honestly, I'm not very surprised. I just wasn't feeling it. I got a cramp in my leg yesterday and today it still hurts! We went out and ran out 2 mile loop and by the time we were done, I was done. So we agreed to skip the run today and recover. We'll go out again next week. I'm only going to do 10 and Wendee will keep going and do 20. That way we're both happy - I get to start my taper and she still gets a second 20 in.

I decided a few days ago that I really need to start cooking more. I have not been very good to my body in what I've been eating. I just eat what's around and gluten free...which honestly isn't much. Every time I thought about cooking I thought about my missing cookbook. I had a green spiral notebook that served as my cookbook. When I found a recipe I liked I wrote it in my notebook. I have not seen that notebook in almost 5 month - it's lost. This morning when I got home from not running, I decided that since I didn't run far I needed to be productive with my time. I wrote a list of things I wanted to get done. One of the things on my list was look for my cookbook - even though I've looked many times with no success. I figured it was worth looking again. Well, as is usually the case, Heavenly Father came to my rescue and he did it through someone else. Riana texted me today saying that she found my cookbook! I was so happy I could have cried. She's coming down next week and she's going to bring it with her. I'm so excited to have it and cook again!

We went to Octoberfest at Snowbird this afternoon. It's a german festival. It was a lot of fun. I love to do things like and see other cultures. It makes me feel more well-rounded. I think it's also good to do things like that that are out of the norm. There was a down side - there was a lady that was not very nice. We were waiting in line for a trampoline thing and the lady was behind us. 3 kids could go at a time and our 3 kids were going to have to split up - 2 of them could go, but the 3rd would have to wait for the next round. Melodee was picked to wait longer. The kids had been waiting for a long time already and it was hard for Melodee to be happy about waiting. Wendee told Melodee she would make it up to her. She took her out of line (I held her place in line because I wasn't getting on the thing). Melodee got back with a treat while the other two kids were on. This lady had 3 kids and she wanted them to all go together. She pushed Melodee out of the way and said her kids were going to go because they all wanted to go together and they had been waiting in line the whole time. She did not understand what we were trying to do. I was so disappointed and really really sad for Melodee. If I swore or called people names, I could think of one word I would have really liked to call this lady. Instead, I just backed away from the line and where she was so I wouldn't be tempted. Every time I think about her I just get upset. I know I need to just forgive her - she really didn't understand. It makes me think about we treat other people we don't know. I think people probably get mistreated all the time because other people just don't understand their situations.

I am so glad tomorrow is Sunday. I love a good day of rest! I'm going to bed a little early and I plan to sleep in a little bit too. I'm so grateful for sleep. It is just amazing what sleep can do for a person. I love it!

Proud

I don't consider myself to be a proud person...but there are a few things I am definitely proud of. I can honestly say that I am current proud of this blog. I gave it a name...thanks to some prompting (thanks!)...and I gave it a facelift. I decided it's my blog and it doesn't have to be so plain. I love it!

I'm incredibly glad it's Friday! I slept so well last night. I think it's because I actually ate food for dinner. I'm sure it helped that I've been exhausted all week too. Anyway...my alarm went off to go running. I was enjoying my sleep way too much to want to get up. But, lucky for me, Wendee came down and said we couldn't go - Jared had to leave earlier than she thought. I rejoiced! I went back to sleep for an hour...and then I pushed the snooze button twice! I am totally against the snooze button. I am a firm believer that if you are going to go back to sleep, you might as well reset your alarm and actually get some more sleep. But, I was so comfy and warm and sleepy that I just couldn't help myself. And I still made it to work on time - even after using the snooze button!

I left work early today. My friend Heather got married today and I wanted to go to her reception. It started at 6:00 and I wanted to be there close to 6:00. I left work at 4:00. It's impossible to leave at 5:00 and get home by 6:00 - I know that. I didn't know it's just as bad at 4:00, if not worse, as it is at 5:00! I didn't get home until 5:50!!! Annoying. What a waste! The good news it - Legacy Highway opens this weekend. I really hope it will help relieve some of the rush hour grief! I can only hope! If it doesn't get better, I'm seriously considering using the Frontrunner. At least then I can read a book or sleep while I commute for more than an hour! And maybe, just maybe...I'll move closer to work eventually. But not yet.

I will be very glad when tomorrow morning is over. Wendee and I are running our last long run tomorrow - 20 miles again. If I survive, I'll make it through the marathon and then I'll get a break! I need a break! I love to run, but if I do it so much all the time - I get burnt out. My body gets tired. And my body is tired!

Real food

I'm in a food rut. I hate to eat. I come home from work every night and I'm so frustrated with the lack of options that I just as soon rather not eat at all. Last night I ate ice cream for dinner. I need to change my attitude. I actually really love to cook and find new things to eat, but I just haven't done that recently. I need to do better. My co-worker Melissa and I started a contest - whose eating situation sucks the most. She is pregnant and sick all the time. But, she gets to eat whatever she wants. We decided to keep track. We have a point tally on her board - so far I win. Tonight I came home and did the same routine - I looked in the fridge, I looked in the cupboard...nothing! But, rather than giving up I actually cooked something! I was so proud and it was good to eat real food. I'll have to do some more cooking so I don't feel so deprived.

I ran my last 5 miler this morning. From here on out we're only going to run 3 miles during the week. A 20 miler on Saturday and the rest is downhill. I'm a little nervous about the long run this Saturday. But, if I can survive I'll be good to go!

I had to go around to a few of my sites for work tonight. It was so fun to see the little 5 and 6 year olds play coach pitch. They just cracked me right up! I love seeing the pay-offs of my hard work. It's rewarding to know that those kids have the opportunity to play.

Wednesday's done...it's all downhill from here

Today started out not-so-good, but it ended well. I woke up really tired again today, but I went out to run with Wendee anyway. We did 5 and I made it, but it was really hard for me. I'm sure my body is still recovering from the 20 miles on Saturday. And I'm sure playing racquetball late last night didn't help too much. But, that was the choice I made and I had to live with it.

Work seemed to drag on pretty slowly today. I took a break early this afternoon. I went up to one of our storage rooms and took a nap on the floor. Melissa taught me that! We're considering getting some kind of a mat so we don't have to lay on the hard ground.

After work I stopped by my parent's house. I've been feeling a little off lately - I don't think I'm sick, but I just don't feel 100%. So I called my mom to have her come out to the car. I had a book she's been wanting to borrow. I got the update - my dad is doing okay. He has edema really bad - his feet are swelling. My mom said that could be a sign of infection. And, it hurts him. And, he threw up this afternoon. My mom said she felt like they were just getting over the hill and now she feels like it's an uphill battle again. I figure it'll be up and down for a while still. We'll just keep praying for him.

I got to play racquetball again tonight - this time with Bryce. We had to go to Bountiful because Layton is redoing their floors. He came and picked me up in his "race car." It was awesome! He beat me good - I lost all three games we played! It wouldn't have been so bad except we had made a deal before we played - loser buys ice cream. So we stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home...but he wouldn't even let me pay! He conspired with the boy at the cash register. Cheater! I'm glad I got to go and I'm glad I had so much fun!

Obsession

I had the best intentions of going to bed early tonight! I woke up this morning and wanted to roll over and go back to sleep with all my heart!! I think my body needs a break - it's just exhausted. But, I got up to go run anyway. Wendee and I didn't end up running though. It was super dark and I just plain didn't want to go out. I might rethink my race training strategy. I have a choice to power through this week and do another 2o miler on Saturday, or still power through this week, but only do 10 on Saturday and start my taper now. I just don't know what to do! It would be really good for me to get another 20 in. But, it's not necessary. And, I'm a little worried that I'm so tired right now. But, it is only one more week right?

I went to institute tonight. Well, part of it anyway. I left early to play racquetball with Jared and Jim. They just cracke me up! At institute Brother McKay talked about how it's important the we enjoy this life and it's important that we share our joy with others to bring them joy. He siad we shoudl have an obsession. I'm pretty sure I can cross that one off my list. Who runs marathons anyway? You have to be obsessed to want to do that! But, I also think it's important to have something your passionate about. It really does bring joy to your life!

My dad is hanging in there. My mom said that he walked around the block today. That's simply amazing! She said he's more optomistic now than he was last week. It's amazing to me what a week can do for someone's attitude! He's definitely not out of the danger zone yet, but it's starting to look up a bit.

Monday

Today was a long day. We usually have a staff meeting on Monday mornings, which means I have to get up super early so I can make it to the office by 8:00 - which also means I get to battle rush hour traffic. But, today's meeting was cancelled so I got to sleep in a bit. It turned out to be a really good thing because I woke up this morning at 3:50AM for no good reason. I had a really hard time going back to sleep. I finally made it to work. I felt like the day was kind of long...there's not much going on right now. We did have a family night at the skate park tonight. I was kind of bummed. I had finally decided I was going to go to FHE with my single's ward...but I had to work instead. I will go next week though.

I didn't get home until 9:00. I ate dinner and then I watched the CES fireside that was broadcast last night. I recorded it so I could still go to dinner with my family. It was pretty much amazing and exactly what I needed to hear. Elder Holland talked about how we can have our own temple-like experiences anywhere, in any situation. He compared it to Joseph Smith in Liberty jail. He was in a terrible situation, but he was still able to receive revelation and be so close to the Spirit. We can do that too. He reminded us that our Heavenly Father is always near - even more so when we are going through trials. I needed to hear that.

So come what may

Today Heavenly Father has heard and answered my prayers. I have decided that it's getting really hard for me to know what I need to pray for, at least in regards to my dad. I think it's a hard thing to know for sure. I want to pray that he will be miraculously healed and we'll get to keep him for a long time. But, at the same time, I can't help but think that if Heavenly didn't need him, He wouldn't do this to our family. So part of me wants to just pray that my dad will not have to suffer for long. But, I'm far too selfish to be okay with losing him. So today as I took the opportunity to fast, I asked my Heavenly Father to strengthen my faith. I decided I am going to pray for my Heavenly Father's will to be done and I will pray that I will have the strength to be okay with whatever that might be. That way I don't have to pick one way or the other. I will leave that up to someone far more knowledgable that myself.

The answer to my prayer started with opening song in Sacrament Meeting - "I believe in Christ." I have always loved that song, especially the line that says I believe in Christ, so come what may. It's so true. If we believe in Christ, it doesn't matter what happens in our lives - we can deal with it. It was so fitting for what I was struggling with. The testimonies shared in the meeting were very tender and they touched my heart. I know that my Heavenly Father is mindful of His children - every one of them. He knows me and my challenges and He is doing what is going to be best for me, even if I don't understand. I know that things will turn out the way are supposed to. If that means the transplant works and we get to keep my dad for a while longer, wonderful! If that means that Heavenly Father decides it is time to call him home, I will be okay. I will be okay! I believe in Christ, so come what may!

I went to my parent's house after church. I didn't stay too long, but it seemed like my dad was doing really well while I was there. When I got there the home teachers were over giving my dad the sacrament. They are so good and my parents are blessed to have them. I'm thankful for them! My dad was the most normal I've seen him in a long time. Even compared to yesterday, he was more conversational and he seemed to be more alert. My mom is so happy that he is doing so well. She seems to be smiling and laughing a lot lately, which I'm thankful for! I love it when she laughs!

I had a prompting this morning. I remembered a conversation I had with Chris about a month ago. He told me that he doesn't know when, but he feels like he will eventually return to the church. I didn't really push it because I don't want him to feel like I'm forcing anything. But, I thought - if Chris wanted to come to church, it would be great if I could get him to go to the singles ward with me. So I sent him a message on Facebook. I told him I didn't want to be pushy, but I wanted to let him know that I would love to have him come to church with me and told him what time it is at, etc. He wrote me back and said that I wasn't being pushy and that depending on what he has going on next week, he might take me up on my offer! I love it! I know it's not going to be that easy, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I love my brother and I want to see him be happy and doing the right things!! Hopefully this will be the start of something good!

What a day

I ran 20 miles this morning. By mile 18 I was seriously questioning my sanity. It was really hard and I got really tired. Wendee was super patient with me. Somehow I have to figure out how to play the mental game so I can keep myself going. I'm just not very good at that yet. When we got home from running I ate breakfast and showered and then I had to take a break. My body was definitely protesting. I got chills and I felt like I was going to throw up. So I curled up in my bed and rested there for probably 2 hours. It was just what I needed because when I got up, I felt so much better. I went the whole day without really taking a nap...although I did get some caffiene tonight.

I went over to my parent's house today. My mom made me some lunch. My dad seems to be doing pretty well. He was up and walking around while I was there. He doesn't say much. He got kind of upset with my mom. He thought she was being rude when she gave him a napkin because he had something on his face. My mom told me that his emotions are pretty close to the surface. I can see that. I'm sure it's just another side effect from all the chemo and the medicine he has had.

I went out and had some fun tonight. Krista sent me a text inviting me to the State Fair rodeo. I didn't have anything else planned and I really need to do better about getting out and being involved. I don't really do things with friends very often - probably not the best thing for me to be anti-social. So I went. It was fun.

I did a pretty good job of wearing myself out today and now I'm exhausted.

A kid at heart?

My family has been the recipient of yet another miracle. It seems our family is blessed with one after another! I'm sure it's thanks in part to the many prayers I know are being said on our behalf. My dad is doing so much better!! His fever broke last night and they didn't have to go into the hospital. He is feeling a lot better today. I talked to my mom on the phone for a few minutes. She said they just got back from walking up the street and back. That's quite a change considering last night my dad had a hard time walking from the living room to the bedroom. I'm so glad he is feeling better.

I told my boss about my dad today. I thought about it last night and I decided it wouldn't be fair to them if I had to call them and tell them I couldn't come in if something bad were to happen. I told him and he was very supportive. He told me to tell the other coordinators so that they could be prepared if they needed to fill in for me for a few days. It's wonderful to be able to work somewhere where the people are so supportive!! It makes things a little easier.

I suppose I'm officially old. I went to the store today on my lunch break. I bought a fruit rope thing a couple days ago. They were on sale so I decided to try it. I really, really liked it so when I went back to the store today, I bought some more. Rather than just take a bunch from the box, I grabbed the box that was behind the open box. The fruit ropes are called "Clif Kids" or something like that. I took the box to the register. The lady scanned it, but the box wouldn't work because they're supposed to sold individually. She had to work for a minute to get the box opened so she could scan just one. While she was working on it, she said, "Your kids must really like these." I looked at her a little shocked and said, "Oh I don't have kids, but I really like them." She said, "Oh, well, I guess you could count as your own kid right?" "Yeah, whatever." She said, "I guess you could still be a kid at heart right?" A kid at heart!! Please!! I'm still a kid!! Unbelievable. A kid at heart...

Intense night

It has been kind of an intense night. I decided to call my mom to see if it would be okay for me to return the suitcase I borrowed. I know that they have been very careful about people coming over. My dad will get sick really easily so they're doing what they can to avoid that. My mom said it would be okay if I came over.

I found my parents sitting in the living room. My mom coaxing my dad to lay down in the bedroom. It took a lot of persuading, but my mom finally got my dad in there. He was having a hard time concentrating. I know it's got to be really hard for him. When we got him situated on the bed, my mom started an IV antibiotic that they are administering at home to stay on top of the infection. As she was hooking him up, she felt his head - it was hot. She took his temperature - he had a fever. 100.6. Apparently my mom had been given orders to call the doctor if his fever got above 100.5. My mom said she was going to call and my dad said no. He said he wanted to say a prayer and he asked me if I would say it. I broke down. There a big difference between hearing an update on the phone and seeing for myself how my dad is doing. It was too much for me. Jared came in shortly after that and did his part to talk some sense into my dad. Jared told him he had 15 minutes and if he still had a fever we would call - no matter what he said. My dad agreed. 15 minutes later it was 101.1. My mom called the doctor. The doctor said to watch it for the next 2 hours and see what happens...but if it gets above 102, they should come in. When my dad heard that he said, "I want a blessing. And I want everyone's faith." Aaron came over and he and Jared gave my dad a blessing. I had to leave to watch Aaron's kids. When Jamie came home I came back to the house there was a definite sense of calm. I felt comforted and assured that things would be okay. I walked in to find that Jared and Aaron were giving the blessing. It was absolutely amazing to see the priesthood in action like that. I felt the power - it was definitely real! When I left the house my dad still had a fever. My mom said that tonight he basically said that he didn't want to have the second transplant and that he was ready to go. I'm willing to bet he will feel a little differently in a few days - hopefully when he feels better. I don't blame him. I would be tired of fighting if I had been fighting like he has. He is amazing! I've had the feeling lately like I need to be prepared for the storm that is ahead - I just really hope this is not the storm I'm supposed to prepare for. It's too hard.

Blessed more than I know!

So while I was on my way to Texas, Riana and I had a conversation. I've thought a lot about what we talked about. I think it's worth recording. We had a layover in Denver. Ri called someone she knows in Denver to chat - to kill time in the airport. She found out that this lady's son was getting divorced. This guy is young and his soon-to-be ex-wife is young. Apparently she decided that she wasn't ready to be marriend and still wanted to "live her life" without him. Totally sucks! So Riana and I talked about this. We came to the conclusion that some people can get married right out of high school and be totally fine. Other people need to have their time, their chance to experience life on their own. And if those people get married too fast and get that chance, it doesn't work out. Thinking about that and pondering about my life has brought me to the conclusion that I am being blessed more than I'm even aware of right now. I'm the kind of personality that needs to experience things on my own. It's a dang good thing I haven't had the opportunity to get married yet. I think if I was already married I would wonder what it would have been like to be on my own - to have a career. But I don't have to wonder about that. I also think that the time I spend working will make that much more grateful for the work my future husband will do. I will know how hard it is to go to work all day every day. I hope it will help me to be more sympathetic to him. I've also come to the realization that while I want to be a mom with all my heart, I am so grateful that I have had this time to be free. I can pick up and go anywhere or do anything I want to. Again, when I'm no longer able to do that, I will be able to know that I had my time. Bottom line - I want, so badly, to be a wife and mother. I know that I will have the opportunity. In the meantime I am glad I can recognize this single time as a blessing rather than thinking that there is something wrong with me.

My dad got to come home from the hospital today. He's got to be thrilled. I haven't seen him in a long time. I'm afraid to go over to my parents' house because I don't want to get him sick. He still doesn't have an immune system. But I miss him and my mom. I've talked to my mom on the phone, but it's just not the same. Maybe I will call her tomorrow and see if I can come over for just a few minutes or something. Or maybe she can just come talk to me outside. We'll see. I'm glad they're home now and I hope we can keep it that way for a while.

Home!!

I am finally home in Kaysville!! The trip to Texas was wonderful and so much fun...but it's always great to come home. There's just nothing like having my own space and my own room and my own bed and my own pillows!! I love coming home!

I need to write about a change in perspective I have had over the last few days, but not right now. It's late and I have to get up early tomorrow to run and go to work! Back to real life I guess.

Labor Day blues

I got really excited this morning.  We spent the day in San Antonio.  We went to the Riverwalk and the Alamo.  I found a restaurant in San Antonio that does gluten free Mexican!!  I was so excited because Riana has not stopped talking about Tex-Mex.  She said it wouldn't be a trip to Texas unless we had some Mexican food.  We planned to go there for lunch.  We finally go there after some difficulties with directions....only to find it was closed!!  A Mexican restaurant that closes for Labor Day...isn't that an American holiday anyway?  What a waste!

More Texas...

My vacation to Texas is coming to an end.  I fly home tomorrow afternoon.  To be honest, I'm glad it's almost over.  I love to go on vacation and relax and see new things...but I'm always happy to go home.  I suppose that a good thing - it would be pretty sad if I didn't like to come home.

I got to go to church here yesterday.  It was an experience like I've heard many other people talk about.  The was small - smaller than my single's ward.  But, of all the places I've been while I've been here in Texas, inside that church building I felt the most comfortable.  It's awesome to think that no matter we go in the world the church is always the same.  The doctrine is always the same.  The schedule is always the same (well - mostly).  It's comforting.  I love it!

We are staying with Riana's friends - Jeremy and Janielle and their baby Camberly.  They are just great.  I've grown to like them a lot.  Last night we went to Jeremy's grandma's house.  She is Dutch and it was her birthday.  There was a lot of good food there.  Jeremy talked to his grandma about my not being able to eat wheat.  She told us what was in everything...but she must have left something out.  I got sick.  :(  But, the good news was, Janielle had oreos!!  We came back to their house and I ate some oreos and then I ate some ice cream with oreos in it.  It was great.  I'm not feeling so hot today, but what can you do?  Life goes on.

We're going to the San Antonio Riverwalk today - whatever that is.  It sounds cool.  Should be fun.  And tomorrow our trip will be over.  We'll leave in the morning to drive back to Dallas.  Hopefully we will find a store on the way home to buy yellow doughnuts for Wendee.  And then we'll be in the air on our way home.  It's been a good trip!
